Spartan Ops should be Infinity Ops

Spartan Ops is too generic sounding. If the co-op tells the story of the UNSC Infinity’s crew, then why not call it Infinity Ops?

I don’t know. I kinda like the sounds of Spartan Ops. Has a nice ring to it. It evokes an image of special operations, and clandestine missions. Infinity Ops sounds too much like shipboard operations unrelated to actual missions or training.

This ^^^^^

infinity ops makes perfect sense to a long time vet, but to a newer recruit sounds like something uninteresting and lame.

I like Spartan Ops

They both sound stupid.

I realize that Spartan Ops - Infinity Ops - Whatever Ops isn’t actually a rip-off of Spec Ops from CoD, but with recent releases of info, that was a horrible nomenclature choice 343 made. It’s really not that hard to make a sensible name that doesn’t have “Ops” at the end of it.

Honestly, and I think a lot of people would agree with me here, I think they should change the Ops thing. It sounds too similar to a certain something we all know about. How about OPERATION: Infinity?

By that same logic, no one should jump to any conclusions based on name alone. “Ops” is a common and frequently used shorthand phrase used unilaterally across all branches of the armed forces. It isn’t confined or unique to any one game.

I understand your point, but I still think it’s a valid choice given the nature of what it’s describing.

I like the sound of that

Name is not important to me.

I was hoping for Omega Spartan Boom Boom Now Ops.

But Matchmaking is now called Infinity

Yeah, you’re right. It would be weird to see that pop up twice in your menu screen… Also, it’s not just matchmaking that will be under Infinity, but all the Multiplayer experience aside from Campaign co-op. I am almost certain this includes Forge and Custom Games. I am not sure about Theater, though, since it’s universal.

I got a really good idea. How about MULTIPLAYER ops!

Oh, how do I do it?

I agree with your reasoning. Conversely, you even said yourself that it’s very common and non-unique. It’d be better to just come up with a unique name. There wouldn’t be nearly as many conclusions jumped to, and it’d be more memorable, thus having more of an impact.

To see an example of this, look at Infinity. That is a good name choice. “Let’s go play some multiplayer.” You can’t say this in this day and age; you have to specify the game you’re playing that generic, overused term in. Infinity will be remembered for ages.

Yeah, I agree. Theater will likely stay on the main menu since it’s used for all modes, but all multiplayer-related modes will probably fall under Infinity (including Spartan Ops).

Campaign
Infinity (Spartan Ops, Matchmaking, Custom Games, Forge)
Theater
Settings (maybe, unless Start menu returns)
Waypoint (maybe?)

Nah, it’s Co-OPS

You stole my idea >.< so ye I do think it’s a good idea, Because it’s MINE.

We’re upset about the way 343 names things… -_-

First it was Wraparound and Warhouse… Now it’s Spartan Ops.

I understand that you aren’t rage’n about it but honestly a name is a name. I hope they call the new forge Maps of Duty. I bet people would sell the game as soon as they seen it. A name sounds similar to something from CoD and 7,000 pre-orders are cancelled. Sounds like the Halo fanbase to me.

> How about OPERATION: Infinity?

This sounds cool, but it sounds more like a specific mission than an entire game mode.
