I haven’t heard anything about a second season of Spartan Ops. I think Spartan Ops is lame and the guy at 343 who said “If you like Firefight you’ll love Spartan Ops” was obviously lying as part of his job. Not only in Spartan Ops a lot less fun, there’s no solo version, and once you reach SR130 the challenges offer no incentive to play it.
In any case, having Spartan Ops “season 1” implies there will be a season 2, but I haven’t heard of such a thing. 343 never commented about future seasons even before the game was released, and I’m not aware of them saying anything about it since, which is consistent with their poor track record for communicating with the community.
I suspect Halo 4 wasn’t the success 343 had hoped it would be in terms of the number of people who play it. There are less than 600 people playing match-made Spartan Ops as I write this.
I doubt 343 sees much value in providing another free season for Halo 4, nor do I suspect they believe there is enough demand for a second season to have much profit potential were they to charge for it.
Have I missed any announcements? Any thoughts? Do you think season two will be part of Halo 5?

Since Season One was incredibly bland and not very well received, the aspect of 343 making another one is unlikely.
If they were to make another one, it would NOT be free. With it’s unpopularity, no one would buy it, and it would be a waste of money.

I don’t understand why you say there is no solo version. There is, I have played all but the first chapter completely solo. It was miserable I’m not likely to forget it.
Someone also said that their would be no spops matchmaking population and therefore no one to play it with. I’d like to point out you could always invite someone in. I’ve never even tried spartan ops in matchmaking because i’ve heard it is terrible
Ops was an experement. Firefight was just better.

Yeah the Prometheans were a pretty crappy enemy. 3 variations?

You can play it solo, but it doesn’t scale. You fight the same enemies you would if there were four of you. In Reach’s Firefight there was version designed for one player that ended after one round.

All dumb. More variations wouldn’t have helped. They were just weird and annoying.
I doubt they will make a season 2.But lets see what E3 holds.

It is, I lag like crazy when playing the matchmaking version of it. Hey if you have nobody else to play it with, I’ll be more than happy to join.

I seem to be the minority here, but I really like Spartan Ops. Maybe it’s because I don’t see it as part of H4’s multiplayer but as an extension of the game’s campaign. I got the game in late March (thanks to Amazon making some MASSIVE -Yoink–up with my order), so I played all 10 episodes solo right after having gone through the campaign. And I really, REALLY liked it. I would definitely love a second season, and I’m prepared to pay for it if it’s as good as the first season.
I really liked it to. I don’t understand why everyone hates Spartan ops.
