Spartan Ops season finale comin up!! Cant wait episode 9 was good and hope episode 10 will be amazing!!
Hopfully the finale is EPIC. It needs to be ended in a bang to keep the fans salivating for Season 2.
Can someone tell me what is actually good about Spartan Ops? Aside from Episode 6 or 7 (I can’t remember which one it was), the gameplay and ‘mission’ design is very lacklustre and boring. You are just killing waves of enemies and pressing buttons in the same maps over and over again.
I’m not talking about the videos, I’m talking about the actual gameplay within the chapters.
The gameplay’s fun. They reuse some spaces but the scenarios play differently.

I enjoy how 343i has added to the Halo universe and furthered the story with Spartan Ops.
I enjoy how an average mission is only 6.5 minutes.
I enjoy how I look forward to Monday to get some new CGI that is not free to make.
I also enjoy how I used Spartan Ops to level up.
My favorite parts about episode 9 was chapter 2 and 5. 2 for roland’s joke about pushing buttons constantly, and 5 for the marathon symbol on the last 3 buttons
Anyone remember that amazing like tron style green room where you float up to the ending of chapter 9. That place was amazing.

It’s more story driven that appeals to the fans of the story and long time campaign players. I’ve read all the books and some comics. I love the halo story. That is why I like it, and I personally like it way better than firefight. They are pretty similar in ways, which is why I don’t understand why people were mad it was taken away but I enjoy playing. The only thing that sucks is when you join a match and whoever the host is has the worst internet. But that happens every now and then to me.
I’m looking forward to it. i just hope the cinematic is nice and long

Spartan Ops isn’t about Gameplay. It’s about the story.
Yeah, the gameplay can be a little boring at times but I’m not playing it for love of game mechanics. I’m playing because I need my fix of weekly Halo lore.
I’m down for a +20 minute cutscene
Can’t wait for Episode 10! Don’t let us down, 343!

How can spartan ops be about progressing the story when the missions have almost nothing to do with the cinematic episode?

Episode 9 is basically: Halsey is given the Janus Device(is that its name?). Jul M’dama takes half of key and kidnaps Halsey, but not before Halsey gives Thorne the other half of the Janus device. Halsey’s importance to UNSC and her having half the Janus Device(I’m sure Thorne filled UNSC in), makes her a priority. All fire teams are called in to find Halsey, and Crimson is one of the best to find her. Not connecting with the cinematic yet?
It’ll be disappointing if Jul M’dama is the final boss(haven’t had one of those Halo for a while have we) wielding a power weapon or he just hides behind hordes of enemies. It’d be cool to see him as a Promethean mutant though.
I hope The Didact has a voiceover, an appearance(too far fetched) or a at least a reference to him.
Episode 9 was boring as all hell. Hopefully they end it right, but it is 343 we’re talking about.
I’ve LOVED Spartan Ops so far. I can’t wait for the season finale! Chapter 9 had, IMO the most entertaining episodes so far. I don’t know why, but they were fun to play. I think it might have been that they had some story relevance rather than just be a clear out mission like so many before were.
Also, reached my highest SPOPS kill total from Chapter 9. Even with 4 players, I racked up 133 kills when other missions would only have 50 enemies total. I love high enemy counts. ^^
There needs to be something absolutely sensational for Spartan Ops to be justified.
The second half of Season 1 was a lot better than the first half… but once again it all comes down to repetitive gameplay. overwhelming numbers of enemies and pressing switches.
The finale has to be more than this. If it’s just a nice looking cutscene and then the same gameplay then it’s failed. Sure there are some nice new maps… but the content needs to be different.
Looking back at old Halo games there are so many interesting ideas that could be incorporated into Spartan Ops;
-Protecting Captain Keyes in H1
-Warthog run in H1
-Destroying PoA reactor in H1
-Fighting a prophet in H2
-Scarab battles in H2, H3, Reach
-Invasion style objectives in Reach
-Choppers on Lost Platoon in ODST
Know what I mean? Spartan Ops has excellent intentions but the same thing that plagues H4 plagues Spartan Ops; lack of variety.
If Chapter 10 had a Harvester battle I would be amazed.
Op, im loving it so far.
In reference to ROCKET FOX’s post.
Remember this is only season one…
I’m sure 343i are not silly enough to put in their biggest ideas so far into the Halo: Infinity story.
Time will tell. Sit back and enjoy shooting some covies!
I can’t wait! It had better be the best episode! (And have the best RvB Easter Egg too!)
