Spartan Ops season 2 what not to do.

Halo 4 Spartan ops was a good idea to expand the story to the halo universe, but it had some problems that put me off the idea very easily.

The constant re-use of maps.
the first chapter or two was pretty interesting but the fact that all the player’s were moving back and forth to the same maps over and over made the second tour of requiem look sloppy and poorly coordinated almost like we all dove in and we couldn’t keep it together, I swear Crimson stood on Jul 'Mdama’s door step like 12 times and were told to come on home. In the mid season it got interesting again after some new maps appeared but it was short lived.

Power rangers or Spartans?
Some of the Characters don’t seem to be taking any of the situations as seriously as they should be, for example SPARTAN-Jared Miller did not seem qualified to be a mission handler let alone a man holding a gun, it felt like a clown trying to entertain a child half the time. Halo Wars, Halo 3 ODST and Halo Reach managed to pull off a good story with good characters without the Master chief, I’m sure it can be done again.

different levels compared to the main campaign.

Re-using maps from the campaign made Spartan ops look cheap and not worth my time, I would have set the maps on locations like a human Colony or a different alien world, not re-exploring maps from a campaign I can easily replay when I please.

so there you have it my opinions on Spartan ops, It was a good scene to halo but it had it’s flaws thanks for reading.

I agree with you, the reuse of maps for Spartan Ops did something boring game …

I also think that the cinematics should include the characters in your squad. I felt the main story and the gameplay were too segregated. I want “Crimson Team” or whatever team you play as in the future to be the MAIN characters. I think it would be cool that your spartan is the one you customize but the rest should be characters we care about (or hate lol) like Buck, Palmer, Locke, etc. Also when playing it with other people, each person should play as their spartan but see their friend’s take up the places of the other characters, similar to co-op from Halo 3, but distinct where each person perceives themselves as their custom spartan.

I left my comments on Spartan Ops on another thread here (if you are interested on my take)

But going with this thread, I agree completely. I remember one ora few levels where Roland and Spartan Miller would be acting like… >sigh< … Miller and Roland could have been left on Requiem after hearing them say “Oh no! More Covenant!” a hundred times. It wouldn’t have bothered me if they said it once in a relevant way, but the Covenant were already there, I’d already shot a few, and they already shot back. They should promote those two to Captain Obvious of the UNSC!

It would be great to be part of the cutscenes in some way. I would be fine with the cutscene being a semi-gameplay where you see all this stuff going on, hear it going on, being part of the action, or even just being able to move your head while your Spartan team gets talked to.

They dont have the resources to constantly make new maps, unless youw ant to pay for it. I did not have a problem with it. People seem to forget tha SPOP was a sucessor to firefiht, where you hade about 7 or less awailable maps. They just gave it some narration, it was never meant to be compared to the campaign

True for the most part. It did end up becoming rather crucial to the story of Halo. I don’t think people want Roland in their firefight haha They can recycle some maps and things. I’m not against that, it’s just that they had 50 missions and 7(?) maps, which did get wearying because they wanted to make it a story of sorts. I just didn’t feel the progression of the story so much. I would be willing to pay a few bucks for an impressive DLC/expansion

They should get rid of it and bring back firefight.

I did enjoy Firefight way more than Spartan Ops. Spartan Ops told a great story but I did hate the dialog during the game play. I which there would have been less dialog during the game play and just had the voice announcing the “double kill” or “triple kill”, to me that gives it more of a multiplayer feel. I could careless if there is a season two of Spartan Ops really. Not to mention you had to be online to play Spartan Ops which I thought was really lame compared to Firefight which you could play either on or offline.

How to fix spartan ops:
take it out and bring back firefight.

yes any way it was hard to find a match on spartan ops and then you need a gold subscription to play it

How about some dialogue that isn’t completely terrible.

Well considering that the intention with Spartan Ops originally was to just be Firefight with some campaign objectives thrown on I think they can do a lot better. Especially if Spartan Ops and Firefight are both in the game. Although there is nothing wrong with re-use of spaces if they are done well. Like if the map is a place that is constantly being fought over for story reasons. They can even do that multiple times, but in Spartan Ops Season 1 these places were almost never referred to by name until the second half which is when the levels got a lot better.

First time I heard about Spartan Ops I saw the potential for it to become something like Destiny I guess, a shared world shooter. Imagine having The Infinity as your hub world, a bunch of S4s running around, you can run to the training room where they got the MP, maybe your own quarters where you keep your gear, the lab where you unlock new abilites and armour, the landing bay where you go to start missions, just some quick ideas. When ever we are about to get new missions the infinity travels to a new planet and this is where the new missions will take place.

In order to do this they should probably make Spartan Ops a separate game. Personally I just want my Halo MMOish/RPG, and Spartan Ops could totally be that.

I think that they should also have objectives more varied, if they include the firefight mode Halo 5, any mission of shooting, which some are fleeing with a vehicle… It has many possibilities, but you have to take advantage of

That would be cool as long as it actually works. Destiny was boring in my opinion, so it definitely needs to be better.
