Spartan Ops: Season 2 Discussion/Ideas

Hey! So, will there be a spartan ops season 2? If there will be, i have some ideas.

Ok so, the first season ended off where Requiem was destroyed and the other key was missing to the other part of the key. And then, Halsey wanted revenge, right? And her missing arm looks creepy, how about put a robot arm, yeah? Lol. How about, the Infinity landed on Earth and went back to the galaxy to go searching for the key. While they’re searching, they see a halo ring. They go on it and check it out, and run into some covies. Now that the Didact is dead (not sure…) the Covenant go back to continue the prophecy “Great Journey”. And then they try activating the ring and, the Spartans try to stop them. While the spartans are wandering the ring, they meet a new Oracle. But this time, it aint a backstabbing jerk like 343 Guilty Spark >:/. This time, he and his sentinels help you stop the covenant! And let’s put some flood in here yeah? Of course, someones always releasing the Flood. It’ll be great for the Spartans to meet their new enemy. And i would love to see a return of Brutes. But not weak like Halo Reach brutes. I liked them best in halo 2. So yeah, a return of Flood and brutes would just be epic and Halo 4 would be boss. And while exploring the ring, they run into an old friend. Arbiter! I want a return of the Arbiter. And i want some elites that play as good guys like on halo 3. At first, Infinity thinks he’s an enemy, then realizes it’s an old friend. How many of us would love a return of Arbiter? Arbiter should be a main character in season 2, and helps you fight off flood and covenant with a group of elites. Then a huge war happens on the ring and while other UNSC troops are fighting on ground, you should get to have the chance to drive a pelican or hornet to destroy covenant in the air. And then, the mother covenant ship comes and the spartans’ job is to get the other half of the key, kill Jul Mdama, save Dr. Halsey, destroy the ship, destroy the halo ring, and get the hell out of there. And then, the Season Finale should show a new covenant leader, like a new prophet or a brute chieftain.

In my opinion, just to add more drama to Spartan ops, they should add a scene for each chapter, in each episode. Like my ideas? Or have any ideas YOU want to share? Discuss! Add me on Xbox Live: EpicAngel00.

Add a bit more variety in the objectives, and perhaps let us fight along side some of the main characters like Majestic and Palmer?

Your idea sounds a bit too much for some co-op missions. Because that’s kind of what Spartan Ops is. It’s not suppose to be as dramatized as the campaign. The Flood? The Arbiter? I’d rather see that in the campaign of another Halo, not some co-op missions.

But even then suggesting something like the Flood returning? Yeah, no.

There are random deaths of guards in a base that has become so bad that Crimson has to investigate

There’s an important scientist that gets abducted by a team of highly trained special ops elites (and I mean spec ops Elites, not wussy stealth elites with low shields. I mean the tough black mother -Yoinks!- at the end of Combat Evolved style Elites)

Crimson is hot on the trail, but the spec op Elites steal a warthog, thus leading to a chase over a large mountain range on an island, Halo: Reach-custom- race-track-in-forge-style, which then leads to a showdown with the Elite team.

This would span a whole episode by the way.

If there’s a second season, all I want them to do is utilize elements of the Halo 4 campaign that they couldn’t expand on properly. Specifically, I want them to have the Pelican return for at least a level, with proper challenge so it’s not just hover back and snipe Phantoms with your laser. Maybe even a Broadsword level, too. Those sections in the campaign with them felt so short, there simply wasn’t enough time with them to have a lot of fun.

before i read and spoil this for you, there wont be a second season.
if there is, then all good, im happy aswell but dont get hopes up for something you know wont happen

There probably won’t be. but here’s to hoping there is.

I’m not sure what I want to see story wise, but I had ideas for how 343 could improve the gameplay quality of Spartan Ops. I posted this in another topic I created, but I’ll put it here too.

I think Spartan Ops (if there is a Season 2) could be made really awesome if Crimson was more involved in the story. However I completely understand how that could be rather difficult. However, I have certain ideas to make it happen. hear me out.

First off, I think Crimson should be involved in the cutscenes and have some dialogue instead of just being a team out there barely significant. While Crimson is given important missions, and is recognized as the most effective Fireteam out there, the story still somehow seems to be more focused on Majestic. I think we can add some focus to Crimson by giving them personalities and characters in Spartan Ops. I’ve given some thought and I have a few small FAQ’s based on this idea.

How could Crimson possibly strike personalities in game?
I actually do not understand why so many shooters are adamant to make the player’s character a mute. In a lot of the Call of Duty games, many characters definitely talk, but once you’re actually playing as them, they do not speak at all (which mind you doesn’t make sense in some cases where you would expect your character to respond, like when they’re completing an objective like planting a mine). All of a sudden, the last mission in Modern Warfare 3 has you playing as Captain Price, and for once, you’re playing as him, AND he is speaking!
Think about it, for once, finally in Halo 4, Chief actually speaks even in game while you’re controlling him. It’s no big deal.
And maybe some people might be thinking. What would your custom spartan sound like? In Halo: Reach, there was a default male and female voice for Noble Six. Frankly, I don’t see much of a problem in combining the two concepts and giving your character a default male or female voice in game (though we may need to have a small variety of at least 4 male and female voices just so each player on the team doesn’t sound the same).

There are up to 4 players per mission. So how would we decide roles?
This is where I was going with the multiple default male and female voices. Before the game starts, the voice patterns could be randomly assigned to each player. Gamers could also select their preference on voice and the game can assign them their preferences with clashes getting sorted by randomization. As for who speaks what lines, I don’t see a problem with Crimson being separated into designations of Crimson 1, Crimson 2, Crimson 3, and Crimson 4. In that way, the roles could be randomized by an algorithm that makes sure that every player eventually gets to play each role (so their probability of having a certain role is less if they just played that role, and if they play it most often for each mission). In that way, each mission could possibly need to be played twice, simply because certain players may have certain objectives while others may have different ones (Crimson 1, 2, and 4 could be defending an area while Crimson 3 is working on disarming a bomb or something). That would definitely make missions a little more interesting and worth playing more times than one.

How would crimson show up in the actual episode videos?
Remember in Halo Reach where Noble Six looked exactly like you (or player 1 whenever splitscreening)? I’m sure 343 can make the Cutscenes to generate the armor of one of the Crimson members (most likely Crimson 1, or whoever is the most involved in the video sequence. That most involved would have the player generated armor, and the player’s preferred voice, and all other crimson members that appear in the sequence would have different voices, randomly generated armor, and possibly even be randomized between genders.

Ok then. Nevermind what i said about a scene for each chapter.

Recycling the environments over and over again would be a huge step up.

I think a multiplayer gameplay mechanic that would work exceptionally well in spartan ops is the personal ordinance drop. Since they already gave you random drops in game to direct you toward your current goal, I don’t see why you couldn’t gain access to a personal drop as well. It’d also give some of the armor mods that don’t work in spops a use. There’s a point system in the background similar to campaign scoring and firefight, so you could base how close you are to earning a personal drop on that.

I don’t see why there wouldn’t be a second season of Spartan Ops. I thought a lot of people liked it. But maybe I was wrong…

Ive been hoping for a season 2 of sp ops, but I no longer think they will do one bc they are too busy trying to cater to the needs of those who buy DLC for wargames.

There has to be a second season… Why would they be calling the first season, “Season 1”. It kinda gives you a hint or feeling there…and plus, we still have to find the second part of the key.

True, 343 might still make a season 2, but it probably won’t be out for a long time.

That’s what i was thinking. Probably this summer ?

  1. Explain why we’re fighting the Covenant

  2. Hints towards Halo 5

  3. Don’t recycle environments

  4. More Characters from the novels. (Admrial Osman was such an awesome surprise.)

Why not make spartan ops more like a campaign instead of dumbed down co-op missions?
Also 343, could you let us know if anything might be in the works?

I was thinking that to. I’d like to see season 2 sooner though.

How about make Spartan Ops more like Firefight from Reach.

It basically is like firefight. But it’s firefight mixed with campaign.

  1. According to Halo Wikia, After the Covenant Separatists (Arbiter) squashed the rest of the imploding Loyalists (Brutes and remaining belligerents), some portions of the Separatists questioned the Arbiter’s guidance and leadership, revealing that some of them still believed in the Loyalist BS and decided to still worship the Forerunners. This created another Schism separating the Separatists into the Arbiter’s Covenant Forces (still allied with Humanity and some Elites even seeking asylum on Earth), and our enemies in Halo 4 known as the “Storm Covenant.”

Hope that clears things up.
