Spartan Ops/PvE Story?

So by going off the most recent Inside Infinite, there seems to be a lot of hinting and teasing towards you and your Spartan having their own story. Now, originally, I just assumed that they just playing it as “Oh, your matches are your story” and whatnot. But then they said something about our spartan having an active and vital role in the Halo universe. This immediately made me go “AYO SPARTAN OPS” and now I’m hyped.

Anyone else got this idea from that, or am I just being a crazy theorist?

I think it should go beyond what Spartan Ops was. They can really add a lot of content through this focus and it adds a ton of possibilities.

I wasn’t going to say anything but people seem to be making a lot of assumptions on one throwaway line in the blog.
I think you, and a bunch of other peeps, are reading too deep into it. Most Battle Passes have a bit of a story which goes alongside them, I think they were mostly referring to that.

I would love to be proven wrong but right now it’s safer to remain skeptical until PvE is (or is not) more directly announced.

That is a good point, the battlepasses were even confirmed to have canon material in them. Still, it is fun to go speculation-mode sometimes.

Fair enough, I for one would love to see the return of Spartan Ops! It would be real cool to follow up on what has happened to Fireteam Crimson since Halo 4 and honestly it would work so much better in the games as a service system than it did in Halo 4.

I’m definitely all for SpOps returning as long as it’s improved upon. I really hate that they had to stop making it in H4, because it was a great idea just executed poorly.

Anyone down for a proper firefight gamemode.

I just got to ask why do you guys like Spartan Ops,
I wasn’t to hot about it, it felt like a chore

A story-driven multiplayer mode is a cool idea. Though I would also really like firefight to return.

The possibilities are infinite.

I’ve been hoping for something like that to come with Infinite. What better way to have you and your Spartan immersed into the Halo Universe. So I take everything with a grain of salt as I don’t like to get my hopes up and have them shattered! If it is going to be a campaign of sorts that utilises your Spartan like Spartan Ops tried to do, then I’m all for it and will definitely not say no to it’s implementation within Infinite!

Would be nice to use my own Spartan in PvE content in whatever form that takes.

Nice

My biggest problem with Spartan Ops was that the story revolved around a different squad than the one we played as. I understand why this was the case, we were suppose to be our own Spartan and it would’ve broken immersion when they started assigning things like gender, personality, or how our Spartan talks in the cutscenes. But with all the talk about making the Spartan inside the armor represent you and even specifically pointing out you can make them sound how you want, I’m pretty excited about a potential Spartan Ops 2.0. If this mode does turn out to be a thing and they had multiple voice actors record the same lines of dialogue for cutscenes so it truly feels like your Spartan in those moments, I’d be ridiculously excited.

I would be ok with this - Spartan Ops was a bit of a slog but like… I liked the idea of it.

If you could choose Squad/callsign I think that’d be pretty cool.

Yeah, plenty of other games have had it where you have thousands of preset names/nicknames. What’s to stop infinite from having a similar system.

Probably would just be a fireteam name or something, I’d be ok with that

I think because Halo 4’s cutscenes were pre-rendered. But, since Halo Infinite’s cutscenes will all totally be in-game, it would be possible to see our custom Spartans in cutscenes this time around!

I disagree. they’ve been heavily hinting in their blog, and advertising that we’ll have a storyline of sorts in Multiplayer. Plus with this being a live service game, AND given the fact that multiplayer for the first time has cut scenes specifically just for multiplayer (Spartan Laurette and the Academy) plus confirmed tutorial sections and a fully voiced and customizable personal AI…It’s lining up like we’re going to have some multiplayer PvE storyline missions. Which is nothing but beneficial for the game, imo.

If it was just a “bit of a story” for the battle pass, they wouldn’t have put aside an entire section of the blog to have a paragraph from Joseph Staten himself about how our Spartan is integral to the Halo universe and will play a vital role in the story.

I hope you’re right, but if you’re not please don’t complain about a feature that was never confirmed to make it into the game. That happens surprisingly often here.
