Why do you need Xbox Live Gold to play Spartan Ops? At least back in Halo Reach, if you bought the game but had no Xbox Live Gold at the time you could have played Firefight offline for free. Gamers that bought Halo 4 but has no Xbox Live Gold just gets ripped off in my opinion.

basicly MS sold us a campiagn with a peice of multiplayer and no spartan ops, and then charge xbox live fees to access said features you paid for. its basically a pay to play game. halo 5 will be the same way, unfortunately

Episodes 1-5 are all on the disc. They were just locked by 343 until they were set to release.

If they where they where not in their completed state. 343 worked on spartans ops weekly, after halo 4s release.
I agree 100%.
I think -Yoink!- is to blame. It might be part of the contract with 343i. You know, to shake us dry.
It was originally because new episodes were to be released each week, and they were still using downloads for some of them.
If it was offline and simply disk locked, people would just change the date and access them. Or modders could access the full files.
With it online only, modding is discouraged a lot and 343i has control over when they are accessed.
Though, now that the episodes are done, I feel that they should enable them to be played offline. Download the episodes, or whatever you need, and they will be there.

Nope, everything on disc was finished and ready to be shown at the right time. They worked non-stop on Episodes 6-10 though which were a download.
I would assume the reason you need to be online for Spartan Ops is because the CGI episodes are not a part of the download due to space reasons, and are simply streamed.

Nope. Episodes 1-5 were all ready to go at launch. Hence why we didn’t have to download anything those first 5 weeks compared to the second half of Spartan Ops a few months later.
