Spartan Ops not avalible wihtout Gold, Guests

I just checked my Spartan Ops, I am a gold memeber but my brothers/cousins want to play, is there any way that we can play the content? I just told them to sign in as guests but they cant still enter.

Do I need to spend like an extra 240$ dollars on buying them EACH a GOLD membership?

Because If thats true, that was not a smart move of course im not giving away 240 dollars! And Ill probably swap the game.

Thanks in advance

no other way around it; that’s why spartan ops was a fail to begin with. it started with a great idea, but it’s missing major features like theater, offline mode, and have it available to non-gold members.

Halo 4 is the last puffs of dust from the cow that Microsoft has milked dry. Gold-requisite Spartan Ops is just a way for -Yoink!- to try and squeeze a little bit more money out of the fans.

I feel really bad for anyone who bought gold just to play that sorry excuse for a game mode.

The audacity of 343 Industries is astounding, they’ve taken one of the most beloved modern game franchises and turned it into a marketing gimmick; I will not buy a gold account for my friends/siblings to play Spartan Ops with me on my console.
The expectation, based on how other similar games work, that you could play this type of content offline or that you could play online with a guest was not met; which, I believe, detracts tremendously from the overall value of the game. I feel this constitutes a tort and demand compensation for the lost value (i.e. release the scenarios as downloads ad no additional cost so that I and my friends/siblings can play them cooperatively via split-screen or over system link without the need for a gold subscription.)

Yes, is too bad this brother , i know that feel

Some of the great reasons why Fire Fight was better: No Gold required, and can be played offline. That’s not including game play or options.

I thought 343 said Spartan Ops was going to be free to all?

Nope, you need a Gold Membership.

This both shocked and disgusted me too. I came back to 360 after selling my old one two years ago. Since then I’ve started to PC game, as well as owned a PS3, it’s really opened my eyes. Coming back to the 360 and it’s “you must have a GOLD account to do ANYTHING!” is stupidly frustrating. You want to watch your Terminal videos? Tough luck, you need to access Waypoint. Which guess what? Needs a GOLD account! Want to watch your Netflix, a premium service I’ve already payed for? Oh yeah, you need to pay Microsoft too. It’s all totally BS. I seriously hope they patch HAlo 4 so I can access these things with my Silver Account once my 14 day trial runs dry. I actually like Spartan Ops (I’m not keen on PvP gametypes, more of a co-op guy). Just a shame that GOLD accounts are needed to do anything these days.

I didn’t liked Firefight at all, but I like IDEA of Spartan Ops. Okey, I understand that -Yoink!- must give people reason to pay for gold membership (like playing over internet isn’t big enough…), but Spartan Ops? Idea was, after finnishing campaign with my girlfriend (I am such a lucky -Yoink-) on splitscreen, game will have something more to play with her. She could play as a guest, but half of fun for her was to customize her character, just like she did in Reach. Not to mention, that when we go on vacation with our xbox we won’t be able to play those cooperative missions any way!

It’s a big, big pity, that Halo isn’t on PS3

Wow, I wasn’t even aware of this. I’ve always been a Gold member, so I haven’t run into this problem but you guys are absolutely correct. SOps and other things like waypoint shouldn’t be tied into the Gold service at all! That’s absurd.

that really sucks, hope they fix that out for you

Money$oft’s promotion for Japanese players delivered me from my situation… at least for 2 days.

And I’m glad I didn’t get 1 month Gold because SO has terrible balancing. On Co-op, it seems easy while on Solo, it’s freaking hard due to bad spawns, easily running out of ammo (and since SO is part of MP, the same “issue” which is in MP is very likely intentional), and the game spamming high ranking power weapon wielders, Watchers, and savagely rushing enemies at you. Nonetheless, Solo Legendary is merely twice as long as Solo Easy (it’s an average of 30 minutes for me). It’s very disappointing.

The only levels that have interested me are Hacksaw and Land Grab.

I have played spartan ops with my roommate and he was signed in as an xbox live guest. It sounded like you were trying to have more than two people play so maybe it is like co-op campaign where you can have four player co-op but only up to two people per console.

iF YOUR FAMILY PLANS ON PLAYING OFTEN, HAVE THEM BUY THEIR OWN ACCOUNTS

AND THERE NO LAW THAT STATES “YOU MUST PURCHASE A 1-YEAR FOR EVERY PERSON THAT WANTS TO PLAY”

I can give you the 14 day gold membership that came with Halo 4 if you want? I can’t use mine since I am already yearly subscribed and none of my friends need it. Message me if you want it!

Heheh Sure

Are you really that much of a -Yoink!- fan to try to defend their reasoning… I remember when you did’t have to pay to play games online… now… It’s turning into “i remember when I didn’t have to pay to play co-op with people in the same room as me…”

ARE yOU SERIOUS@?@?!?!

Wow, I never realized that Microsoft would be so cheap as to try and monetize small features (that should be free) from the greatest Xbox, perhaps video game series–Halo, a game that has more of a sentimental value–just to make a few extra bucks. Let’s charge them double!

this is why i sometimes wonder if i should get myself a playstation. still thinking about it, though i could never get use to their controllers. they’re not comfortable and the triggers are slippery.
