I’m a fan of the Spartan Ops gametype but apparently so are players looking for easy XP. I just got done with a match for example with 3 people idling at spawn, just soaking up XP.
I want a strict idle timer of like 20 seconds. Because as it stands people are idling their way to max rank.
I’ve tried asking without any luck if there is even a banhammer in Spartan Ops mode, or if it’s only in War Games. Do you know?
LOL boosting spartan ops, just like afk firefight in reach.
Best you can do is file complaint, name and shame these people.
Im sure 343 wont be tolerating afk boosting.
i admit i did this once and felt bad, but only because my dog -Yoink- all over the floor 3 seconds in 
and i got 5k exp? how the hell does the points work on this, i get more points in heroic than i do legendary even with same death/kill
I would suggest you all read the forum rules to keep oneself out of trouble.
Name and shame is a no no.
Your strict timer policy is a bit extreme. Dont worry, the banhammer swings without prejudice when it comes to these afk types. I would say rather than worry about another, worry about you. How someone choses to play the game is not your concern. When they are caught, they will know why they were banned.
There are more reasons to play this game other than MP MM. Respect other choices, and in turn we can respect yours.
Lastly, once the trueskill ranking system goes into action, then the real ranks start.
So, let’s take the information we got here and request that 343 Implement a participation score. You get a baseline of say… 400 XP for not doing squat. And then you increase XP based on Kills, objectives and deaths. Then AFKERS will not bother. How about that? Fixes things if you ask me.
20 seconds is hardly extreme. A good Spartan Ops game with 4 active members lasts 5-6 minutes and the result is 5900xp. Anyone against such a timer is clearly exploiting the fact that there is none in this game mode.
I appears as though a silent server-side update has rolled out because experience in spartan ops has changed drastically. Now idlers are getting around 2-300xp and not everyone is getting 5950xp, just the first ranked player.
