Speculation:
Why do people think It will be DLC?
Surely, we wont be downloading entire campaign segments. Thats ridiculous. When I first heard of Spartan Ops, I thought it would be obvious that all the missions made will be on the disk. But will be unlocked as the weeks go by. Am I the only one who thinks that is how it will work?
That makes way more sense. I was thinking that too (or something similar there-of) actually.
No, it is unlikely they will be Disk-Locked Content. The first few might be, but it’s not entire campaign sections… it won’t be that huge on each download.
> That makes way more sense. I was thinking that too (or something similar there-of) actually.
yes.
The notion of downloading missions each week is ridiculous…
Well it depends, because if you remember, they said it’s purely videos. So for instance, the video might well be unlocked, but be hosted on 343’s end, and all you do is stream. The actual gameplay is already on the disc, and they just send the custom options and the game interprets it.
Simples.
I believe they will be on disc as well. At least the essential data files.
At least they’re not pulling a Capcom or Epic and charging us twice for it.

But do you really think there’s enough space on the disk(s) to store weeks and weeks of missions and cutscenes?

they said it would be dlc their is no way they could get two fool campains on one disk the limits of 7 gigs of mem to play with…and they said it will keep going in seasons . so you tell ing me that 2 years from now the disk will have more info on it befor they made it. use good judgement and end this tread

^This. Though the range of maps/locations would be difficult… Though I suppose every now and then we could have a download, which contains the maps for the next however many weeks?
I personally think it will be 100% if you are offline ONLY. If you are online, however, i think that that they will do what they did with the Reach rank cap, except by using small patches to unlock the missions each week.

Why do you think It wont be disk locked content?
Obviously if they intend to make more, it will come in the form of DLC.
But the first season or so.
Why would they release it as DLC.
Another idiotic thing people keep suggesting is that they will be making these missions as the weeks go by and that it will be alot of work.
Its a no brainer than most of it will be made in advance…

Equal in size and scope to the campaign.
ITs basically a second campaign, broken into segments.
I don’t think any disc can contain that much content. I think that there will be an option on the menu and it lets you play it, but it just changes every week without you downloading or having it on the disc. They just stream to you like its on the disc, but its not. In other words, you have to be on Xbox Live to play it, even if you are alone like how the Recon armor works in Halo 3.
im pretty sure it will be on the Disc, but not all of the data so it cant be leaked by hackers.
so i assume they will release a patch every week with the missing files, but those patches wont be bigger than 5MB-6MB
a DLC every week would be stupid and would make no sense…
I don’t see how all this could be one one disk. The campaign, multi-player, forge etc and THEN a separate campaign-type mode? I don’t think that’s possible on the disk the XBox uses.
I’m going to think we will be required to use the Cloud service thing. It is Microsofts baby, and so is Halo.

For starters, its equal in size and scope to the campaign.
We had firefight. Several maps.
I dont think spartan ops is much different. Imagine each mission as being a map.
The missions will obviously be small. Not too different from firefight. Id imagine it will virtually work similarly. Instead of hordes, we may have some linear gameplay.
The disk can take it.
I can almost guarantee that most of the missions will be locked content on the disk from launch.

Yes, but on release, Firefight only had a small amount of maps on the disk. The rest was DLC which was downloaded to the XBox hard drive. From the sounds of SpartanOps, it’s going to be a weekly release that could possibly go on for months. I seriously doubt the disk can hold that much content.
You can believe whatever you choose to believe. But I choose to believe that it’s all DLC for Spartan Ops except the first mission. Because if you think about it each Xbox 360 disc holds 8GB of data. So in order to fit the Campaign, Spartan Ops, Multiplayer and etc on the disc it would have to be downloadable over a period of time.
Not to mention they are taking about releasing one every week. So if you think about a mode that has a mission and a cinematic video in it each week adds up to a lot of data.
Now me personally I don’t want them to put it all on one disc because those people that MOD stuff will unlock it so they can post it to YouTube and spoil it for other people. Plus I want it to feel like a adventure as well so people will keep coming back to the game to play that mode over and over again.
Now if it does come on disc it will most likely be on the multiplayer disc if 343 goes that route.

The entirety of spartan ops is equal to the size and scope of the campaign.
I have a feeling the modding community will spoil it for everyone.
So I believe it will be a free download for every time you unlock a new episode.
