Spartans Ops is technically DLC. DLC often has restrictions for Silver users.

It is, and it isn’t. The actual episodes are streamed via Waypoint, which requires Gold to use. The second half of the season is DLC, because the game shipped before all the episodes were completed (this would allow 343 some flexibility with later missions). Again, DLC usually requires Gold or has severe restrictions for silver members.

Questions:
First, the <mark>highlighted</mark> one: so can we assume that this is the reason why Spartan Ops requires an gold account AND an active internet connection?
It if is like that, at least I can understand it now why I can’t play any Spartan Ops with my family whenever I take my Xbox to them (and can’t connect it there to XBL).
And second, the italics: technically we could play Spartan Ops Season 1.2 offline, right? Because it is DLC, and therefore on our memory drive and doesn’t have to be ‘streamed’.
I guess, there is some restriction like you mentioned or features in-game that hinders users to play it offline. Because you can usually play DLCs offline and with an silver account, for example maps or add-on contents.
I just want to know the background for everything, because I like to understand the reasons why something like Spartan Ops can only be played with Gold/active connection.

This is the reason I don’t want Destiny, you always need to be connected to play it, which probably means I’ll need to pay for Live, which is fine, but I don’t want a useless disk

If people demand it… why not sell it?
