Spartan ops LAG???

I love playing spartan ops but why does it lag so much? its only 4 players? big team battle has 16 players and it barely lags so why does spartan ops lag so much? i played the campaign with 3 other players i didn’t have a problem with lag even though i had 1 person with a bad connection. campaign is longer like 20 minutes of game play with four people on legendary but 10 minuets of spartan ops any difficulty lags like a yoinking suicide grunt behind you with the cloud skull on. i have great connection when playing games except BO2 (Lags like cortanas period) so im pretty sure its not me. Is it the servers? 343i please fix the terrible lag. What do you guys think? whats the problem with the lag?

Great game btw. best in the series in my opinion

It´s the same kind of Lag/Delay like in Reach Firefight/Coop Campaign and Halo CEA Coop. I dont know why they never fix this crap.

I don’t know if this is true but my buddy says that spartan ops uses P2P ( peer 2 peer) connection.

It’s unbearable a lot of times.

They’ve had it in Reach firefight/co-op campaign as well. Sadly, it doesn’t seem like it will get fixed sometime soon.

The impending playlist and specialization dilemma seem first on their list, but I have no clue as I’m not 343.

I never play Spartan Ops multiplayer; I find it funner to play it solo. But that is just me.

Merry Christmas spartan and happy holidays!

Becaus the main problem is all the players running around with bad connections and thats something developers cant magicly fix. The long distance to other players is allso a big reason for the lag especialy when most of them have bad connection speeds.

Here read this to understand the networking system used in Spartan Ops, Firefight and Campaign.

The reason Spartan Ops and Co-Op lags is due to the heavy AI that needs to be run on the host Xbox.

I tried to explain it in an article.

Shortest answer possible: to keep the A.I. enemies in sync with the clients, every client player first sends the data packages to the host first, and has to wait for the hosts “answer”. This only takes some few miliseconds, but that’s exactly the reason why it lags. Otherwise the A.I. enemies would behave totally different for each player. And this could result in your buddy saying “heee, behind you, a ghost is coming”. You: “there is no ghost!?”.

Of course, the actual connection speed of the host also can have a huge influence to the overall quality and can make the lag even worse.

Problem is, it is annoying and games like Gears of War proofed that you can also use another netcode model for that, and it works fine.

These are quoted for truth!

It’s not like you just magically snap your fingers and fix the lag that’s in campaign, firefight, and spartan Ops. The only way I can think of for 343i to fix the lag issue is replace everyone’s internet connection with a futuristic internet connection that has zero lag time. OR! Force people to have to go to a local rec center to play Halo CoOp.

This is because matchmaking with other players and matchmaking where AI are involved are very different. With AI, the behavior must be exactly identical over all 4 consoles. This is why it lags. If you played on a good connection with others who have an excellent connection, the lag is not present.
