There is a hollowness to completing matchmaking games and being drip fed XP compared to playing spartan ops. I use fast track on spartan ops which pushes it OVER 9000xp a game - you see what I did there? I don’t use fast track in MM because I like to play competitively.
Yeah…I found this out LAST WEEK. That is RIDICULOUS. Not to say SOME of the missions aren’t fun. Shootout In Valhalla is a BLAST if you have a good connection and three other competent players. GOOD GOD four mantises are INSANE when you concentrate their fire.
The bad? 4/5 games has HORRIBLE lag. This was the biggest problem I had with 4 player Firefight on Reach and its the biggest problem I have with Spartan Ops. BUT OMFG ALL THAT XP.
No thanks, don’t need my dial up connection rubbing off on other peoples dial up connection and causing a matrix effect for that 9000xp you speak of.
@Kensei Mizuchi, I don’t know if I’ve just been lucky but I get severe latency in just 1 in 10 games. I also seem to get WAY more kills than the other players 4/5 games. I will have about 50 kills and the others will have around 16. Possibly because I’m playing the same mission a slightly obsessive amount of times in a row (haha) Possibly because pulling host a lot (100MB connection) and having a huge advantage? Possibly because it matches you with a lot of newbies instead of similar skilled players.
I finish missions in 7 minutes or less. I’m SR-130, 16,000 kills in SpOps. I was SR-130 in less than a month and a half. Spartan Ops makes it WAAAAAAAY too easy. Oh well. So did Firefight.
I have never gotten 9000xp per Spaartan Op mission, it is always 7731 and I am at level 69, seems to never change like in Reach where the higher the rank the more the payout…

Ah well that sounds fun. Here in the middle east, i cant find matches. I CANT. Countless times i just leave it on to find someone, and always it has returned me to the screen saying it was unable to match me with anybody.I think i got lucky once for finding a match after around 15 min. This issue was in firefight as well. I know 343i doesnt really direct its attention to the audience of the middle eastern countries, but it still kinda sucks :[ Does anyone know for sure why this issue happens? I’d really like to know if it could be fixed. Thanks!
Not many posts in favour of the current system so I hope 343 can do something about it. I know the developers want to encourage people to play Spartan Ops but it is not doing the XP economy any good and to reiterate there is a large hollowness to completing 10 matchmaking games over a few hours and earning less experience than I would playing Spartan Ops for 20 minutes.
Spartan Ops missions should reward less XP the more times you play them. That way players will still be encouraged to complete missions once for the large bonuses.
I don’t use fast track in MM because I like to play competitively.
