It’s all been said before we all know what Spartan Ops is lacking but I have something different to complain about. What’s with the non-professional attitude of EVERY character in Spartan Ops!? It seems everyone who talks in it is a spoiled brat that refers enemies as “bad guys”.
This doesn’t seem to fit with how professional and legendary Spartans are. The missions should be far more serious with way less jokes and more like an actual campaign. The story is good, the cut scenes are amazing but the gameplay does not reflect this.
Enemies should called called hostiles, we should feel like we’re on top secret missions that only spartans can accomplish.
Overall, Spartan Ops needs more maturity and it needs to be more like an actual campaign, which is what it was advertised to be. We should feel badass when we play it and one thing I did like was how Crimson and Majestic were almost like competing with each other in the beginning. Spartan Ops might be bearable at times, but it has way more potential and it shouldn’t settle to be a mediocre part of the game.
Season 1.5, especially Episode 10, felt Campaign-like.
I have high confidence that Season 2 of Spartan Ops will be very well done, and feel like Campaign-DLC. 343i got feedback, listened, and know what the people want/expect. Now that they have this knowledge, Season 2 can become what Spartan Ops can truly be.
Um… maybe cause Spartan IVs used to be normal soldiers… they arent born and bred killing machines like the chief…
And as for the lighthearted banter and such… Cortana and marines have always been a source of this throughout all the halo games. As old marines no doubt the spartans would joke and such during deployment to keep themselves sane. They dont have the conditioning that the Spartan II’s and IIIs have.
and roland… well he is just filling the AI place of Cortana for these spartans. and she has always joked about things in the middle of combat…
I find the banter quite fun and lighthearted… and the reason being… most of the spartan ops missions werent really OMG LIFE OR DEATH… for the first half of the season and a little bit of the second half they were going on easy missions that were just run of the mill… why not joke and laugh about clearing out a few grunts and elites… competing to kill the most crawlers (the challenge)… its what naturally would happen… and happens thoughout movies and such in war situations… Think lord of the rings (gimli and Legolas competing). Think almost any war movie you can think of…
They joke to stop themselves going mad I would imagine… and I imagine real soldiers do similar… if they cant have fun … they cant really live…
So… It makes sense… (and Lasky as commanding officer… is usually pretty serious in the series)

Spartan 4’s come from the best UNSC soldiers there are, I would assume they got quite a few ODST’s to join in. The banter in the campaign is very fitting and not out of place at all. With Spartan Ops it just feels like we’re a bunch of kids running around shooting “bad guys” while making jokes about the endless hordes of fuel rod elites that are incoming.
I always imagined and others must have imagined that spartans are totally professional. Sure, they may say something a little bit funny every once in a while, but it’s mostly dealing with the task at hand as quickly and effectiveley as possible. They aren’t trained from the age that MC was but I still feel like they should be staying true to how a spartan should talk and perform.

Ok I can’t give you a direct link but I can tell you where to go from here:

"Spartan Ops is the new story-driven multiplayer mode unique to Halo 4. Spartan Ops missions come in ‘Seasons’ that last 10 weeks. Five new missions are launched each week, starting with the release of Halo 4 on November 6th.
Each mission will be preceded by a series of weekly cinematic episodes on Xbox LIVE where the story of the UNSC Infinity - and the crew of Majestic Squad - will provide the backdrop for the Spartan Ops missions you will undertake and merging the worlds of online and in-game storytelling in exciting new ways.
A fresh and revolutionary second campaign for Halo 4, Spartan Ops missions can be played as both single-player and co-operatively with up to three friends. "

I would have liked 343 to actually hire the professional military operators who call missions out AWACS to run the dialogue in Spartan Ops over what we had. Though Roland saved 6-10 for me. That I appreciated over Palmer.

Read what I put after. There’s your source and mine as well. It was obviously advertised as having 2 campaigns.

I feel that could work if done perfectly right. If it was done wrong though it would feel like COD.

Thanks for the sources.
All I can say is, yeah, not really a campaign.
I mean, SPOPS is, by definition, not a traditional campaign, but I can see where they were going when advertising it as such.
Spartan Ops has Grunts, that instantly makes it a campaign. To deny the Grunt filled Spartan Ops the title of a story driven campaign is like saying every campaign in past Halo’s was not a campaign.
Every campaign had Grunts so that makes Spartan Ops a campaign.
