When I first read about the Infinity Challenge I was excited to play Spartan Ops for it. It was going to be the one category I would be able to compete well in. I enjoy playing Spartan Ops, I like the missions, and it probably wouldn’t require as much time involved as the War Games portion would. After playing a few games online, I don’t think I will be competing anymore. Here’s why:
LAG:
I have yet to play a game of Spartan Ops (both Play Chapters and Find Game options) co-op that doesn’t feel like I am drunk while trying to control my spartan. Every game I have played that is not solo, I have a 0.5s lag time between when I press a button, and when I actually execute that button press in-game (shoot, sprint, jump, ect.). I don’t believe this is only a problem on my end, as I can play War games 90% of the time with no lag at all.
AFK PLAYERS:
Of the 2 games I did play under the Find Games option, each had at least one player that was AFK a majority of the time, or all of the time. This needs to be addressed for the challenge. Why should they get credit for “playing” when all they did is press the A button to find a game? In my most recent game we played Land Grab, which took 22 minutes! This mission should not take more than 10! But since I had an AFK, it took much longer than it should have.

LAG: It’s because there’s too much AI to keep in sync across all members of your party. There’s just too much data. Co-op campaign is like this too. Unless you’re host. Then it’s smooth sailing.
AFK: Yes, this is annoying me too. A couple of days ago I got put in a game with one other player, happened to be afk too. After observing and meleeing the crap out of him for 5 minutes, I decided to just quit. I’m not going to play a laggy Land Grab all alone.
