As a huge fan of Spartan Ops, I would think it’d be cool if you could play the missions offline. I understand that they are meant for 4 players, but why does that mean I can’t enjoy them on a silver account? This is just something to consider. When I found out I couldn’t play the missions offline, I did get upset, but I soon didn’t care, mostly in hopes that I can enjoy this on my silver account when I run out of xbox live on the next gen Halo game.
I agree. Shouldn’t be gold only.
Yeah it should be for silver users.
Wow I didn’t know you couldn’t play it offline with a silver account. That sucks. I mean, if you and a friend or sibling wanted to play and say you didn’t have gold you should at least be able to play locally.
Thats just a BS move by Microsoft.
The way I see it, in Halo Reach you could play Firefight on or offline and, since Spartan Ops replaced Firefight … well, it only makes sense to offer it offline as well.
And what about YEARS down the road? I still play Halo 2 for the story, but once the servers are dropped for the 360, that means the entire (and very pivotal) story about the aftermath of New Phoenix, the destruction of Requiem, the Janis Key, Halsey losing a limb and wanting revenge … what about when people want to play through all the Halo games to learn the story and have to skip that?
I agree. Microsoft is well known for its money ambition, but this went to far. 343i delivered half of the game for $60, the other half must’ve been bought via a Gold membership. It’s unfair to pay extra cash for a game mode and I hope next time 343i do the things right.
Honestly, they’re not missing much. The only good parts were the cinematic cut scenes and those are available on Waypoint’s YouTube channel.
Well seeing as waypoint has cried about this since almost day one.I don’t see it changing at all.Quite honestly MS doesn’t care about people without gold memberships, which means 343 isn’t gonna do anything.
Hopefully 343 will have a more stern stance on the matter for the rest of the games and allow offline usage.Well see what happen’s i guess lol.
It was something to do with controlling the releases of the episodes. No reason why they can’t do it now though.
As much as I hate to say it I don’t think we are going to get another season, I am pretty sure that’s what the new comic is. I want another one but I can say that I don’t care if its only gold, might sound -Yoink- like but I have a gold account as do all the people I play with.

What about once the servers go down? That could be years, but if you’re like me: I was still playing Combat Evolved when Anniversary was released. I still play Halo 2. Spartan Ops is a Halo campaign, and if it’s not made available offline, then eventually no one will be able to play it.
I agree, it’s ridiculous that players without Xbox Live Gold do not get to play through Spartan Ops. As it was mentioned, it would be like denying players the chance of playing Firefight unless they had Gold. People paid for the game, they should be given access to all non-online multiplayer/pivotal story aspects of the game.
If Spartan Ops is to continue in future Halo games, 343i should allow players to play it offline, with any kind of account.
Oops, sorry, double post. My bad.
