Hey! Spartan Ops Episode 8 just landed and this thread is just for it. I don’t recommend to read this thread if you don’t want get spoiled of Episode 8.
What did you like it? I think that the CGI-episode was awesome as always but all of the missions were used from previous two episodes, 4 of them being from Episode 6. These maps still felt quite fresh but I was a little disappointed about that. I really hope that this is last Episode which has all of the maps recyckled from previous episodes. At least there was much vehicle combat, which is always nice.
That chapter which was on Vortex was annoying because my Spartan buddies didn’t shoot these spheres that were objectives. I had to shoot them myself.
Also the first chapter was silly because you had to destroy these portals in set order. I found one these portal before I was supposed to destroy it and I couldn’t.
Resolution for the fate of Switchback was also lame in my opinion.
The end of CGI was very exciting. That’s interesting that ONI wants Halsey eliminated! ._. And where did Halsey teleport to?
There’r only two episodes left. What do you think will happen in the end?
ONI has gone completely rogue… ordering a UNSC captain to execute someone? I think Laskey is in way over his head and he doesn’t like it anymore. Chief needs to step in a fix this mess. I wonder how JUl found out Halsey was even alive? Officially she is dead…died on Reach. I want to see the dragon lady OSman and KIlo 5 taken down by Master Chief and Halsey…

Lasky’s not gonna do it. Remember, he did defy Del Rio’s orders and provide the Chief with a Pelican for his mission.

I left those guys behind and did the mission on foot.

Yeah, forced order is always dumb. The order wasn’t forced when we were first there in the last episode.

I vote Crimson goes rogue to protect the Doctor if Lasky actually tries to go through with it, I don’t think he will though. I DO hope someone shoots Osman though.
EDIT: Also way to go Glassman! In one single mission Infinity’s science teams have redeemed themselves in actually doing something useful, accessing and activating our own Forerunner defenses and Promethean weapons caches? I’ll take it.

That is exactly what I thought too.
She becomes the new Cortana. It’s kind of cool AND creepy at the same time if you think about it. Clearly Master Chief has feelings for Cortana. Cortana was born of the cloned mind of Halsey for whom Chief learned from in his early stages of training and one whom the Spartans called “mom.”
To have her as an AI would be cool, so long as she doesn’t have the 7 year rampancy bit.
But then to have her replace Cortana…She’s motherly toward Chief, yet she has Cortana within her so to speak.
It’s all just confusing. It’s kind of like a partial Oedipus complex. (Look it up if you don’t know)
Also, anyone else catch that Parangosky is dead? She was the former head of ONI. Now the new head is actually a former Spartan. Yes…she is. Read the books. To have her give the order to kill Halsey is just well…WOW. She didn’t seem to worried about her decision though. Seems like at first she was okay with her “non-decision” of not putting Halsey in a deep hole or killing her. Now that all has changed.
If Halsey does indeed become an AI, well, she’s going to be a LOT harder to kill…

Although it was a surprise to see Osman as the head of ONI that quickly. Grasslands was set just after the war and she was only a captain then.
TBH, I still don’t get why Osman “hates” Halsey that much. While I like the idea of her character, I hated her development and lines/scenes in Grasslands.
And besides, didn’t they make Halsey fix Forerunner tech for Infinity? I find it a little flawed as while as much as ONI wants Halsey gone, her expertise is still far too valuable.
And Laksy defying Del Rio orders was a lucky break for him, it just so happens that ONI never liked Del Rio.
My guess is Lasky’s gonna debate about it. Then, he’ll tell the chief. The chiefs not gonna like it(especially after the loss of cortana) but he’s going to opt to retrieve her.
at this point, it would be as 343 suggested " the chief will be tested in ways he has never been". He might go “rogue” himself and do whatever it takes to keep Halsey alive.
also, Halsey becoming a new Cortana seems very likely at this point as well.

SpOps takes place roughly 3 years after The Thursday War and Parangosky said that Osman was going to be promoted to Admiral that summer.

Osman hates Halsey for kidnapping her as a little girl and then just throwing her away when her augmentations failed. While Halsey probably understands the Forerunner tech the best, she probably isn’t the only one. After all of her subterfuge on Infinity, like cooping Roland and talking to Jul 'Mdama, Osman probably decided that she was to great of a security risk
Anyone else completely psyched to Osman? She’s referred to as Admiral Osman, I absolutely love it when book characters show up in games, especially Halo. Guess she is the new head of ONI
i did enjoy it, but i really did hate looking at it, and seing it was the exact same maps as before, also the spartan AI are anoyying, they are nothing like spartans and i just dont think they should have spartan AI, unless they actually look differently, and behave differently, they are just dressed up marines, which all look the same

Well actually she wasn’t quite sure how she felt until she was influenced by Parangoksy and her little pet AI Black Box telling her to feel like a victim. Besides, Halsey didn’t “throw her away” when her and other Spartan augmentations failed, she did her best to find them meaningful jobs within ONI and actively worked to find ways to fix them.

Probably, but I wouldn’t doubt they rival anyone but Glassman on know how and we know how HE ended up handling Forerunner tech.

The only reason Halsey went to such methods is because nobody was helping her with research she was brought on to help in the first place. It’s sad when an alien offers more help than the people of your own species.

I was under the impression that she was only brought to the Infinity to fix the engines, since she installed them in the first place. though I really want to know, why don’t they just get the Huragok to fix them?
