Possible Spoilers below!
-It turns out Jul was the one contacting Halsey through the artifact- and it appears she does not know his identity.
-Halsey believes Lasky and other higher-ups of the UNSC are hiding what they know regarding the Prometheans.
-Palmer’s regular distrust of Halsey has lead her to arrest Halsey under Lasky’s orders.
-Thorne is now a prisoner of war to the Covenant.
-Finally some more interesting base defense and protector missions!
-Crimson Team has been left facing a huge force as a final cliffhanger
My thoughts
Definitely enjoyed this weeks missions, the change in the regular objectives of killing and hitting switches is a breath of fresh air. Roland is becoming a favourite commentator of mine, and unfortunately Shadow Team got to have all the fun blowing up that cruiser. Their leader was named Horatio or something in the comm chat I think? We may here or see more of them later I think.
The cutscene with Majestic was interesting- and shows Thorne has what it takes to be a Spartan- ignoring DeMarco’s orders to simply stay put.
Definitely my favorite episode so far. It was SOOO much fun!
(Side not: I LOVED the RvB Easter Egg on this one. Totally changes how you play the end of the last chapter)
But yeah. I loved the Gennie defense missions and protecting the scientists.
Spoilers below!
What do you think about the fate of Crimson? Do you think we’ll be a part of a new Spartan team next week? I only ask because of this:
The achievement is called Dedicated to Crimson (could be a double meaning), and it puts Crimson in a really bad place being surrounded by Covenant like that
Either way…both the CG cutscene and the last mission put me at the edge of my seat.

I have seen the Easter Egg, but yet to play it- it looks hilarious! Finally some Gravity Hammer goodness in Spartan Ops

Crud- I just realised the possible hint in the Achievement name too! We might indeed form a new team, which is sad because I’ve enjoyed being the kick–Yoink- that is Crimson. Then again the achievement might just be more of enticer for people to play S.Ops. But who knows? It’s still a major cliff-hanger for next week though.
Just read your edit. My thoughts EXACTLY on Thorne’s actions. He showed what Spartans are best at: Innovation!
And Palmer has another scene where I just want to see somebody break her -Yoinking!- neck. I wish John, Fred, Linda, and Kelly were there because they definitely wouldn’t take too kindly to seeing Palmer pull a gun on Halsey.
Im 2 missions in and its already my least favorite episode gameplay wise. I play these missions solo on legendary, and typically I enjoy the challenge in brings. But in this weeks episode im noticing some things.
- The promethean units seem to have far more longevity now, especially the watchers.

2) My sIV seems to be even -Yoink- than before. I can take almost no punishment before I have to run for cover.3) The pulse grenade seems like it got a major damage boost this week or something. I literally never died to one of these prior to this week, and now theyre killing me left and right.
I really hate the defense missions as well. Seeing as there is no difficulty level change depending on how many players you have, its nearly impossible to protect the objectives. I managed to save 1 device in mission 1 with about 50% hp, and all of the scientists ended up dead a good while before that part was over.
Really, really annoying and frustrating missions so far.
As far as the storyline goes, its not that bad, but im starting to dislike the fact that Jul and his elites can seeminly interact with forerunner tech so easily considering they arent reclaimers.
Edit: Apparently I too bypassed the word filter. Perhapse 343/the moderators should fix their apparently fail word filter?

I feel like I’m the only one that loves Palmer.
It would have definitely been interesting to see how Blue would have acted had they been in the same room.
I see your concern’s for solo players- I wish there was scaling for number of players. I’ve only played full teams and sometimes as a group of three so far on these missions. So I’ve found them to be quite fun and balanced.
Can’t say I’m looking forward to the 2nd mission legendary either but- so many damn Watchers…
I don’t hate Palmer either- but I agree Palmer seems way to aggressive towards Halsey- she may be a War criminal- but who threatens an aging scientist with a Pistol? (Answer: -Yoink!-’s and bad guys)
Also, I think this episode may mark first time where we don’t hear the word “Egghead” uttered.
So considering how the composed memories of those on Earth somehow made it back to Requiem, does anyone get the feeling that Jul is reviving the Didact that went to Earth rather than the Librarian.
I think Jul is definitely still after the Librarian- he states this in the Ep.4 cutscene.
The Didact’s whereabouts are probably going to be left a mystery for Halo 5, or much further into Sp.Ops I think. I remember being told that he is incapable of being composed.

He can’t be composed which is in one of the terminals. Also i think Crimson will die 343 said we won’t be Crimson the whole time and the achivement Dedicated to Crimson. And Memento Mori.
Anyone else think Thorne might turn against the UNSC if Jul tells Thorne something he wants to hear he might.
Kinda hope our next team isn’t named after a color. Feels weird to be called “Crimson” while I’m gray and green.
> Kinda hope our next team isn’t named after a color. Feels weird to be called “Crimson” while I’m gray and green.
Blue or red teams do not make sense when Master Chief and the others are generally clad in olive green armor.
I don’t think the memories caught in the science station monitors are composed memories i think that was just information being transferred back to Jul through the
large artifact. One of the pictures was of the artifact so how could that be a composed earth memory (@ 2:31).
Anyone up on the books should have the same feeling I have that the next game is going to have to do with the race to find the Librarian, Jul, 343 guilty spark (Chakas), and the Didact.
It is memories, Both Halsey and Mdama confirm this. Even Roland says it looks familiar since his codex look a little similar to the promethean knight codex.
Anyone wanna fill me in on where this RvB easter egg is on the last mission?
And also, if Thorne was taken captive, does anyone need anymore reason to think of the S IVs as anything other than trash?
The only Spartan I like so far (Thorne) is now a P.O.W.
I still want somebody to snap Palmers neck.
More stupidity from the Infinity crew in general.
Missions weren’t as interesting as the last two weeks… Though better than episodes 1 & 2.
Not to impressed with this one really… I keep waiting for the story to really kick off & get going, but it just keeps building and letting me down with what it does reveal… Which is very little.
Anyone notice the forerunner glyph on that “Coffin” Just after thorin gets teleported? Its the same one as the classified symbol thats under the “careers” tab.

To me Thorne seems more like Master Chief in the fact that he seems to be Halsey’s favorite Spartan-IV. To be fair towards Lasky for placing Halsey under arrest it is likely he didn’t know what to do and he may have done that to keep Halsey away from the datapad for a while until they could figure out who she was talking to. Still no excuse for Palmer pointing a gun a Halsey’s face.
I have no problem with what Lasky did(placing Halsey under arrest) because he has no idea who she’s speaking to be it enemy or ally and doesn’t want to take any risks(and we find out it’s Jul at the end), but Palmer pointing a gun at her face is completely ridiculous. She did the same -Yoink- in episode 3.
