Spartan Ops Ep:7 Best Episode Yet? Yes/No/Why

Not TOO Long, Not TOO Short… Otherwise, Perfect. 343 hit the jackpot with Chapter 7 this morning. Mission Times fit well with the size of each map while achieving a VERY Vast, Even, and proportional amount of enemies throughout this entire Episode. Episode 7 is also very synchronized with it’s starting and ending positions; the end place of a mission is Completely Relevant to the chapter prior to it.

Unlike most previous episodes, Episode 7 is practically set among 1 map(excluding the first chapter.) Chapters 2,3,4, and 5 are all Based upon The Infinity, and are in sequence, one after another. It’s essentially 1 Huge Map broken down into fractional segments of Itself.

One last thing; The variation of Enemies Awaiting in Episode 7 consists of great quantities, consisting of almost Every type of enemy in each mission(BOTH Covenant and Promethean)

This opens up all ends To your commendation progress.

I am personally voting for CHAPTER 7 as my new favorite out of all the Episodes released so far.

Simply Put;
-Enemy Waves and Encounters are LESS PREDICTABLE, but seem to remain stable.
-Produces GREAT MIXES of enemies. Gives advantages to all commendation progress
-EPISODE 7 Consists of BOTH Covenant, and Promethean enemies on the same Chapters.
-100% NEW environment; (Diverse landscape; NO 2 Rooms are the same) hidden guns.
-GAMEPLAY IS UNLIKE ANY OTHER SPARTAN OPS. A Refreshing change of many actions.

Now, Prepare yourself.

Time to make EPISODE 7 Your -Yoink-… TEAR IT UP!!!

I love this episode, but I’ve only played the first two chapters. I don’t think Episode 7 will beat Episode 6 though. I loved Episode 6.

Only thing I don’t care for is keeping the Phantom alive in chapter 1 on Legendary.

I had a friend experience the Knight glitch in the last chapter, I hope they fix that.

This episode was great but I wish the difficulty was heroic. I know a bunch of people complained that it wasn’t challenging enough, but I’m one of those crazy people that wants to catch the story going on instead of being killed in a big laggy mess of needles and explosions constantly.

Played this with just my brother today on legendary (over 2 xboxes) and it was amazing. The whole thing felt reminiscent of the Halo CE opener and the combat flow was just perfect.

Honestly this is the best episode yet! And for anyone who disagrees…

Yes the story is great, and gameplay and graphics are too.

My personal favorite is still Spartan alley.
I do like what they done to ep 7 especially ch 1 but get agrivated when the knight in the last chapter teleports behind the door.
When that happens {had it happen to me 3 times already} there is no way to finish the game and so you have no choice but to end the game with no XP whatsoever to show for some 10 minutes worth of gameplay. Grr…

That’s why I always do the new episodes solo on Normal before I try matchmaking on them… Can never hear what they’re saying with a headset on.

Agreed, I love the new environments!

I’m really disappointed with this generation.

All some people think about is an insanely unfair challenge. What the hell happened to challenges that were engaging and worthwhile?

I’ve got myself a wired controller and I’ve been considering playing Dark Souls so I can destroy this mindset that Halo is properly hard. It’s far from it.

The only thing that irritated me (and yes, I did hear the comm chatter, and do realize that the Infinity is 3km long,) is that once again we were Crimson Team: The Only Spartans Capable of Doing Everything. I found myself screaming “Again!? Why not send Majestic!? Where’s backup - I’m getting my a** handed to me!” And so on and so forth. Then, last mission we supposedly got backup; they either never showed or died immediately.

Awesome mission and storyline addition, but Gods if it wasn’t difficult on Legendary.

It was decent, the only problems I had were:
-Murphy is pretty much forgotten about
-The Covenant felt the need to plant 8(?) havoc nukes in the same room

I think I enjoyed Episode 6 more tbh, awesome intro cutscene and ended with a cliff hanger.

Definitely one of my favorites so far, it truly felt like a Campaign experience,.

I have not seen the Knight glitch yet, so maybe that will be fixed soon, he does tend to teleport quite often though :P.

The experience is truly enjoyable with friends, get to engage and listen to the new soundtracks and fight some new variations of enemies, Elites that always carry swords and a alternate weapon and that will pick up and use Promethean Weapons and such.

The experience is getting better and better, and they are doing a fine job on making it feel more immersed each week and each encounter different no matter how many times you play through the chapters. Nothing ever seems to play out the same and Episode 7 has become the best for farming different types of enemies at the same time as well.

I expect Episode 8 to start off with a epic in game cut scene similar to Episode 6, since it is likely alot of things are about to go down and to be a vehicle heavy Episode as well ;).

You mean 5.6km, right?

Yeah, meant 3 miles. That’s now much it converts out to, right? It’s late, I’m tired lol.

I think the Marine’s were our assistance tbh, they did arrive and help out, trade them some worthwhile weapons and they can assist you pretty well and take out smaller enemies for you. I think we will begin to see Spartan teams assist us again soon, perhaps this next Episode, they just do not want to take to much away from us as players, characters, I think.

I also think the next time we have Spartan’s helping us they will be new models and have different variants other than the usual Recruit armor on.

Its right up there with Ep. 6.
Great maps, awesome firefights, good level design and mission set up.

Ep 6 was more diverse and on a bigger scale. But Ep 7 hit the jackpot. Whereas last week showed SO could be more than empty shooting galleries and more like a real campaign, Ep 7 felt as if it truely could have been a mission taken from a Halo campaign.
I really can’t wait till next week. SO proves to be amazing, and I hope this level is being maintained throughout the last 3 weeks!

It was good… but I am becoming extremely aware that there is a lack of variety in the gameplay.

It’s pretty much the same as before except with greater numbers than before. Fight 4 Elites before? Now you fight 8 Elites and 20 Grunts.

But we quickly adapt to it, and it just makes me feel like 343i are trying too hard to somehow instill excitement into the game… but all they can do is increase the numbers.

This is the point where all those things that were removed from H4 would really help… Scarabs, Falcons, Brutes, Flood, Skirmishers, Choppers, Revenants, Invasion style objectives, Assault bomb…

All of these things would give the game what it sorely needs; variety.

While these missions are definitely in the right direction in terms of a linear campaign style of play, I really wished they took some more risks with the story telling. The final mission in particular was disappointing.

There’s just not enough drama, not enough at stake for me to really be invested. Crimson Team is always in control, and their objective is never really that creative nor dire. Oh turn the power on to close these doors. Disarm some bombs that will never actually blow up. Clear more enemies out of deserted hallways.

What if Halsey and Laskey were taken prisoner and you have to hunt their captors and free them?

What if several nukes have already gone off on the infinity, and the unsc’s response is in disarray?

What if the only viable means of survival is to request the assistance of a certain green spartan, or even better, the leader of the Sangheili?

More variety is always a good thing, I think for me seeing Elite’s use Promethean and Human weapons went a long way, and also providing us with only one Mantis against a onslaught of Prometheans and defending Murphy’s Phantom as well was pretty epic.

I think we all could agree variety should be increased, and I feel it will be. Scarabs, Falcons, would be amazing and I would love a Invasion scenario as well as a Assault one, and maybe a addition of a new Covenant vehicle or two would be quite neat. I can understand why the Brutes, Flood, are absent for the time being so that does not bother me much, and we have new Jackal’s that act like a mix of the old and Skirmisher’s so we have not lost those imo.

I would say we need a new threat, and enemy added in and a few massive, massive, battlefield scenarios like the Campaigns treat us to. Ship’s everywhere in the sky and a massive amount of vehicles just destroying everything on the ground, think Halo 3 Scarab battles, those were grand, and Reach’s Tip of the Spear also was pretty epic, was one of the redeeming missions of Reach, all with the beautiful views Requiem provides in the background.

Mission 1 of this Ep was beautiful, words can not express how much I loved that area and the way it appears, reminds of a improved version of Ravine, a complete paradise :).
