Weekly missions over the period of months?! THIS alone will keep players coming back at least weekly to Halo. How awesome is that?
Even better —> It’s FREE!!
Here are the things each Halo game has brought to gaming that advances the way we play games.
> Halo 1:
> -Amazing control scheme and handling of an FPS on consoles

> Halo 2:
> -Phenomenal multiplayer and overall matchmaking experience on consoles

> Halo 3:
> -Extraordinary Forge/Theater modes

> Halo 4:

IDK about you, but this right here sounds absolutely AMAZING!The rest of the stuff though? I walk into with extreme caution…

> Agreed.

This is what I hate. Making players who don’t wanna play multiplayer jump through hoops to get what they really want. That’s not what Halo is about.
Not too thrilled that it’s replacing Firefight though, but they could easily make one of the missions be a never-ending survival mission similar to Lone Wolf in Reach.

Furthermore, Spartan points can be achieved through Campaign too I’m assuming.

What if you get SPs for playing campaign, or more Spartan Ops? Would that be better?
isI have high hopes but… keeping players coming back on a weekly basis is what Bungie was trying to do with weekly challenges… I don’t feel the need to explain this any further, as I am sure you all are coherent enough to understand what I’m hinting at.

Except weekly challenges, at least for me, didn’t offer new, interesting stories that you could experience with your friends. And as said here too, some don’t want to have to play multiplayer… which weekly challenges seemed to be involved in a lot.

No, I don’t see at all. Where is the similarity between Challenges and Spartan Ops, other than that they’re both once a week? That’s like judging Spartan Ops based on what you think of Sundays - they’re also both once a week, after all.

Wouldn’t you agree that the main reason behind this idea from Bungie was to invite players to play for a different reason, every week…?
Incoherence, exactly as I suspected.
It’s an entirely different game, of course it won’t be the same thing. Just both designed to attract the same crowd weekly.
This will only succeed if the missions are enticing enough to keep me interested, every single week… IMO this is going to be a longshot from 343i.

Every aspect is designed to keep players playing, derp. There’s no more similarity between Challenges and Spartan Ops than there is between any two random aspects of the game.

What I am worried about concerning these Spartan Ops is that they will become a forgotten feature down the road. A mission a week sounds far too demanding for any development team and I fear it will die off in a matter of 2-3 months.
Think about it… if it is comparable to the campaign in scope and size then that means we’ll be getting, what, 6-7 hours tops of gameplay? Unless these things are 10 minutes in length then I think it won’t last long at all.
