Spartan Ops Death System

This is what needs to be done to make SO better.

If you died by the following deaths typed below then you cannot respawn anymore and can only spectate the remaining players.

If all players die and have no more lifes the game should end. You Will still get exp but no win bonus or completion bonus.

Each difficulty should get you more exp achieving max with legendary.
I know heroic is the only one that has matchmaking but these rules should be Applied in custom aswell

People would realy change their play Style and work together.

  • lifes can be turned around but easy Stays the Same.

Let me know what you guys think.

Legendary SO:

1 player - 12 deaths allowed.
2 players - 10 deaths allowed
3 players - 7 Deaths allowed
4 players - 5 Deaths allowed

Heroic SO:

1 player - 15 deaths allowed
2 players - 12 deaths allowed
3 players - 8 deaths allowed
4 players - 6 deaths allowed

Normal SO:

1 player - 17 deaths allowed.
2 players - 14 deaths allowed
3 players - 10 deaths allowed
4 players - 8 deaths allowed

Easy SO:

All players unlimited lifes.

Interesting idea.

There really is no sense of danger or reason to be careful in Spartan Ops in its current set up.

Legendary solo should have more lives. The respawn in spartan ops is terrible. Sometimes i die, then i respawn right next to a wraith and i get destroyed by the gunner.

I like the idea, OP, but as a solo Legendary Spartan Ops player [I have no friends :(] sometimes it’s just too damn hard and all you can do is slowly trim the massive hordes of enemies little by little.
Also, sometimes it’s the only way to refill your ammo.

I think the number of lives should decrease with difficulty, though, not increase.
Easy should have unlimited lives, as you put it.

Seems kool but i want solo Spartan Opts to be improved first. I dont like that 4 players on the mathc making get more xp per episode then me and my firends not using the match making to play it. Im not a fan of playing with other players with Co-op game types. The third episode is an example becuase of the Mantis and Tank team killing. Us three just play together to avoid that and you only get around 3000 per episode. I realy dont care that theres no lifes like Firefight had but id say you should earn checkpoints. One player dies he has to wait till the others get to the next check point. If all other players die then it loads off of the last check point. Id also like to see xp taken away for friendly fire. You blow up someones tank -100 xp.

Except that you die (respawn timer, lost kills, very likely now lost guns and all.) IMO live systems belong in a 90’s arcade, not in a modern shooter. They’re an arbitrary imposition on the types of playstyles you can adopt (AR, why bother? The DMR’s a much safer option, and what’s better than being safe in a fantasy wonderland of super-soldiers fighting space monsters from the planet DIE!) and it’s a considerable step forward for 343 to have cut them out of Firefight 3.0.

Besides, do you really want to be benched because Little Timmy 117 has a thing for fuel rods in the face? Remember Spartan Ops is also a public gametype. You need certain things not in place to be sure that you’re not always going to be held back because of their poor decisions.

Everybody now just runs and kills what hè/she can kill and respawn again. I think the death system would realy work.
And players would think twice About running in a group of elites.
