Just an idea that Boss battles should be included in Splops. Like fight a super elite general or sumthing similar.
Or even put a Splops canon mission with Rooster teeth Red vs Blue freelancers, how fun would that be?

Spartan Ops had a Boss Battle against a Sangheili on Episode 4… but it wasn’t that great because it was like any other General Elite.
Anyways, I actually do like the idea. It would be cool to have some different types of mission on Spartan Ops.
Yeah, he was too easy. I want a battle where even on easy difficulty, you will have trouble killing him. Like a Rogue spartan or A brute.
And I know there are no Brute mechanics in this game, but good for future Reference.
i don’t think theres brute models in the game.
but yeah… i wonder if they can edit the npc’s life and ai at all? i think all they’re doing is dropping the npcs into the wild and letting them run around with very little tweaks, aside from where they want to head to if they even do that… they might just be coming towards the players.
Would be nice to take down a scarab. Maybe storm a ship and take it down like Shadow team as a “boss” battle.

I like the idea of boss battles. Actually, that would add a TON to Spartan Ops. It doesn’t even have to be something new, it would just have to be planned out well. Though scarabs would be cool.
Maybe even add different objectives to Spartan Ops besides killing off enemies? Just a thought.

i hate classic boss battles. shot limb A 3 times, retreat. shoot limb B three times, retreat, shoot… you know the deal. i HATE that. boss battles are the worst about Resistance for example, they may look nice, but add absolutely no replay value, because the mechanics of destroying them are so boring and taking on a number of normal enemies is much more entertaining and challenging.
Scarabs work well and Liches could too. a vehicle filled with a number of enemies, cannot be defeated by conventional weapons, but needs to be boarded - which is possible in different ways. way more fun than just adding a super-bullet-sponge to shoot at.
If it’s like a scarab battle: hell yes.
If it’s like fighting Tartarus at the end of Halo 2: hell no.
I maintain my belief that boss battles in FPS games just don’t work. The only time they have is in the Metroid Prime games which are so unlike any other FPS that they play like a separate genre. The closest thing to a working boss battle in Halo is the Scarabs which aren’t really bosses so much as moving geometry with standard enemies on board.
A boss battle in a normal FPS like Halo is really just a buffed up enemy with too much health. It winds up being monotonous.

The reason the Storm has so many hunters is because of the cancellation of building scarabs. The Storm couldn’t afford to have a worthy army of them, and the only real big concern for them are land troops, so they decided “why not make tons of hunters?”
I would love to fight a promethean boss. Makes a lot more sense.

This. Halo 2’s boss battles were terrible. The heretic elite wasn’t bad because he wasn’t a bullet spounge, he just had holograms to trick you.
The Scarabs were an example of a well done boss fight.
Prometheans shoulda got the Forerunner tank that was cut from halo 2. Its really weird how prometheans have virtually nothing to counter vehicles.

If 343 wants to include a boss in Spartan Ops, I would really like something big: a Scarab or a Forerunner machine, not a special elite or promethean.
Unarmed Knight Battlewagon with decent shielding, unique combat animations, and increased jump frequency. That’d make my day.
Or even better: 7 of them being deployed with the ability to damage each other so it’s possible to trick them into killing each other.

The sad truth is that Generals exist solely for difficulty. And they are mediocre compared to the Ultras in Halo 2. The day Halo eliminates this rank will be the day it becomes a decent game series.
Speaking of Ultras, since there are none in Halo 4, I think it’d be pretty badass to see one as a boss. He’d have H2 AI with some improvements.
I also want to see a Zealot in gold armor with some unique abilities.
