Anybody else get a little frustrated playing Spartan Ops? Sitting in one room while fighting off a hoard of 100 enemies is such a dull and frustrating experience. Can you speedrun some of this stuff or do you clear areas of all enemies etc?
I just played Chapter 1 episode 3 where you fight 100 crawlers and watchers and that’s it. There are no waves and no variety. It was painfully boring and frustrating. I played Spartan Ops co-op a long time ago, but the lag was insanely bad. Has it gotten better?
Spartan Ops can be really boring. I played Spartan Ops to unlock the Vanguard armor for a good 3 months straight, and it was very very boring. A good mission to play for commendations is Ep:5 Ch:1. The quickest way to pass through that level is by grabbing a turret or Saw, and kill wave after wave of enemies.

That’s very reassuring!
I played the first three chapters several months ago. I’m interested in the story, but they were such a boring grind-fest that I gave up. Now that I’m finally mopping up achievements, I’m re-doing the first chapter on Legendary and it’s even worse because I die a heck of a lot more.
It’s fun for me… I’ve been doing solo heroic no deaths. I guess the better you are, the funner it is.
The problems are things like, weapons not balanced properly, enemies not balanced properly. The Boltshot isn’t 1sk a lot of times, you get slowed down when you get shot, slow shield recharge time. So on.
I recommend getting a team. The more the better. Even if you only get 1 more player who’s around your skill level, that’s half the work done already.
I would play, since I genuinely love Spartan Ops, but I deleted it to make room for other game DLC. 2GB?! -Yoink-!
Oh, make a Spartan Ops class, there’s an alright tip. I recommend the Plasma Pistol and Battle Rifle. Choose Ammo, and…something else (I can’t remember the loadout things ;_;).
Do it on a lower difficulty, if you can, and don’t spend time waiting for shields to recharge. Run in, do damage and die, respawn and finish them off.
90% of the missions are “kill all the enemies”, so the faster you can do that, the better. Headshots = superfast kills.
So I just played some Spartan Ops matchmaking and it wasn’t as laggy as I remember, although can be tricking timing headshots during big battles when there is some slight lag.
I was doing Episode 1 Legendary for the achievement. I was able to do the last two chapters in matchmaking which made them go insanely faster.

Spartan Ops is mostly a “kill all enemies, press all buttons” co-op experience. To get through Spartan Ops as fast as possible, I highly recommend going through missions with three other friends who are skilled Halo players. Just complete all objectives as fast as possible (you have unlimited lives), I don’t think it’s possible for you to skip over them.
Head into a lobby with your friends and hope for a good connection. Sometimes it can be unplayable due to immense lag in Matchmaking.
I honestly didn’t enjoy the first season of Spartan Ops. Season 2 on the other hand was actually in my opinion, more fun than the Campaign. If you haven’t played them maybe give them a try.
Pick the right load-out for the job - this might be DMR, Camo and AMMO for a sniper-type level. It might be jetpack and AR for minor enemies. Some use a lot of vehicles, so you would want to maximize that. A lot of times you want UNSC weapons since there will be unlimited reload boxes.
5-1 is good for Fore-Runners. I think it is 3-4 that has the Mantis - good for mowing stuff down.
Do you know how to hijack Wraiths? That can be useful.
I do agree that some levels, once you die the first time, you are gonna be screwed, as they travel in packs and have single-shot kill weapons. In that case, you just kill one or two, and hope to get another couple the next time, etc.
Many times, I try to clear out a sector, and then snipe/DMR/BR my way into the next area. Knowing when to run helps - some levels, you run in, trip the next wave, and run back…

While I don’t agree the second half of Spartan Ops is better than the campaign, it is better than the first half, for sure.

I’ve heard this a few times.
After playing through SpOps in MM with 4 people, I think I’ll just complete the chapters in sequence as they pop up. Are they generally put out there in order?
