Spartan Ops: "ABODE", "PERORATOR", "ZENITH"

It’s a half baked piece game mode.

Every single episode I play…

-Repetetive dialogue ( Sarah Palmer: “Crimson, Crimson, Crimson. Crimson Crimson, crim, crimy Crimson.” )

  • Reused maps ( played on Ragnorok 3 times now )

  • Extracted by a pelican every game

  • Same thing, find X target and destroy it. or save the scientists or download the file. There are no unqiue moments in gameplay that would lead me to think there is an actual story to the missions besides the CG episodes. The stale in game dialogue is like filler as you shoot enemies over and over again until the mission ends.

What should be in Spartan Ops

-Post game stats showing breakdown of enemies types killed

  • Option to play a wave based firefight mode on a modified version of each Spartan Ops Map
    -Scoring system similar to Firefight
-Unique map for each episode that are not recycled
-Unique in game moments of excitement such as chase sequences, epic battles in the sky flying a pelican, or attacking a covenant ship.
  • WATER BASED MISSION where you can finally use a Halo water vehicle
  • A new weapon introduced via Spartan Ops
  • A new vehicle introduced via Spartan Ops
  • The ability to actually go through an overhead map to see where the missions are located on Requiem sort of like the Maps from Lord of the Rings
  • 10-15 Spartan Ops achievements
  • Ability to navigate around the ship Infinity in between missions like Starcraft
  • Firefight integration with Forge allowing you to choose what enemies spawn points are and where they arrive and when.
  • Spartan Ops leaderboards
  • Multiple Unique characters for each episode

Since I feel the chpaters for spartan ops are boring and stale here are some ideas for some awesome mission Ideas.

Spartan Ops mission Ideas:

Mission 1
—ABODE—- Attack on a weapons factory deep in Requiem. You end up battleing a large tank like AI that uses weavy weapons and defense systems to counter your attacks. After killing it you must detonate charges at the factory core and escape through several long passage ways to avoid being entombed in the Blast.

Mission 2:
—GROTTO—- Fight in an underground cave system accross a series of light bridges as you try to reach an AI core under covenant control. The AI core is responsible for weather throughout Requiem which covenant are trying to manipulate to their advantage.

Mission 3:
—AEGIS Part 1— - A battle that takes place only in the sky as you pilot a pelican against waves of Phantoms and Seraphs. You must Take them down before they reach their drop zone as they attempt to reinforce a large ground force fighting Spartan 4’s near a forerunner Docking station.

Mission 4:
—AEGIS Part 2- - A battle aboard The Infinity as you fight off a stealth attack by a Covenant special ops Boarding party attempting to assasinate Captain Lasky. Fight through an engineering section where the covenanant fighters are holed up with Active Camo amongst large compartments that are on fire.

Mission 5:
—EMPYREAN— -Fight against a Promethian General aboard a high atmosphere platform as you engage him with a variety of heavy weapons and melee attacks

Mission 6:
—CULTIVAR— - Fight through a flooded out forerunner city as you battle through a Promethian garrison to rescue human hostages from being composed. This requires you to reach them via a type of UNSC Jet ski’s.

Mission 7:
—DIAMETRIC— - Pilot a Broadsword fighter in space against the reserve fleet of Jul M’Dama as he attempts to overwealm the Infinity’s defenses after using a forerunner EMP to temporarily disabling the ship. Board his flag ship via a captured seraph Fighter and Nuke it.

Mission 8:
—ANOMALYOUS— - Assault a Snow covered Facility which the forerunners call “Jumentous” high in the mountains of Requiem as you attempt to gain access to a covenant controlled forerunner science lab. You end up climbing up a cliff to reach the facility by stealth.

Mission 9
—APHOTICAN— Chase several Promethian Scientists as they attempt to escape with a Precursor artifact that leads to the location of a Precursor ship. The scientists escape via vehicles similar to a ghost as you track them down across the great plains covered in grass rocks and rivers. There are several awesome moments as a pelican comes in to support you after the promethians teleport in several heavy forerunner support tanks to cover the scientists escape. After killing the tanks you finally chase the vehicles through a series of portals and end up in a science facility as you fight off a Giant hulking promethian called the “Protector”.

Mission 10:
—ZENITH— Reach a crashed Precursor ship entombed in the Ice of a planet called “Snowfell”. After finding a Precursor sarcophagus deep inside you bring it to the surface to find a covenanant fleet has arrived outside. fight off waves of enemies using hidden precursor weapons as you attempt to activate the ships defenses.

Mission 11
—DEPARTURE— Pilot the UNSC Infinity as it navigates through an asteroid field to escape A star going supernova. The ship has to reach the outside of the field so it can safely slipspace jump. Fight off a group of forerunner defense ships as they try to take you down to avoid you escaping with the coordinates to a portal network hub to another shield world. It was the forerunner ships that set off the star to a critical state via an antimatter charge to trap you in its blast.

Mission 12: ( only accessable after completing all Previous Spartan Ops missions on “Heroic” and must have completed at least 3 on Legendary. Must find the Human Skull on “Cultivar” and the Forerunner Soul-Keeper in the Mission “Anomalous” )

—PERORATOR—

Fight off the flood as it assaults the Forerunner world of Chur’nje. You must defend the Shield Ships as they make their escape to the Portal Hub. After doing so You must board the ship “Ardoua Sanctis” to fight off the infection from the Bridge. You finally must return to the Surface of Chur’nje to destroy the local Gravemind as it has taken up residence in the heart of Chur’nhar, Capital City of Chur’nje.

You play as the forerunner known as “Nihdeous”.

>>Btw people, no one cares about your little Specializations codes, so stop making threads about it. This is not what Halo is about.

Badass ideas, and I am right on board.

me to

> - Ability to navigate around the ship Infinity in between missions like Starcraft

especially that

It would be funny, if they are going to put same maps in Season 2.

I think the worst part about Spartan Ops is that you’re forced to kill every single enemy to even continue the mission. These challenges work in campaign because there aren’t a ton of enemies at once and you have a lot of weapons to work with but in SO, there’s a freaking famine in tools (excluding vehicles) so you’re often forced to rely on your loadouts and the enemies are spammed recklessly.

As for my favorite mission idea, it’d be mission 1, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, dang it they’re all such captivating ideas!!

If 343 could balance SO properly, I wouldn’t mind having a single mission that was the equivalent to 5 chapters if it included some of these.

Your ideas are very interesting, OP. The kind of remind me of a game series I used to play (Armored Core).

Though I am all up for some variation in missions (who isn’t?), the one key thing that makes this mode less entertaining than watching wood rot is the fact there is no failure requirements, and only success can be met, which translates to “not challenging in the least”. With no ability to fail, why even bother trying to do some of the objectives, such as saving the marines for example, when we can still finish as if we had done our job?

So long as we can fail your missions, OP, I am all game for them.

I agree that spartan ops are doo-doo but I think you’re asking for a bit to much at the same time, especially water based vehicles. That’s not going to happen.

I actually enjoy Spartan Ops. I don’t mind using the same maps because they change things up. I don’t want Firefight like in Reach, when everyone spams the spawn points before the enemy has a chance to do anything.

If there is one thing I’d like changed, it’s that they should be penalizing death more heavily. Start us with one life each and make everyone earn their extra lives. How bad do you have to be to constantly die against AI characters? Bring back the survival aspect of these game types.
