I’ve spent so much time playing Halo 5 slayer that I felt it was becoming inordinate so after I had a few acceptable games the other night I decided to take a break from slayer. I’m a big fan of all the Halo campaigns, and I really like the character Locke. I started playing through Halo 2 anniversary last week, and I thought the cut scenes, and terminals were great.
WITH THAT SAID, while I think Ike Amadi did a great job with the voice acting I can’t help but remember that it’s not actually Locke, or Mike Colter. (Who is literally the face of the character, and did the motion capture) It is Colter in Halo Nightfall (Obviously, but just pointing out we became familiar with his actual voice), in the Halo 2 cut scenes, and terminals.
I’m not saying that individually one does a better job, but the reality is that it should be Colter because he is Locke, and therefore feels off in Halo 5 as a result. I’ve said this before, but I actually feel they should bring Colter in, have him do the lines, and patch him in ala Nolan North the Ghost in Destiny.
I’m also curious as I read that Locke is going to be in Halo 6 (Again… obvious but just pointing it out) and I would imagine it will be Colter again? You think they will get him again, or get someone else to do the motion capture, and have Ike do the voice acting again?
As far as this I’m curious as well. They spent so much time building Locke up as mike colter that it would be weird to change it now. Although, Ike imadi sounds close to mike colter. I played through half the campaign before I even realized it wasn’t mike colters voice. He did voice the campaign, but it got changed to Ike imadi as a last minute decision. Makes me think it was a dispute but I don’t know.
I honestly don’t think Colter is a good actor. At first I thought it was just the director or a badly written script… but through various films he just doesn’t sell himself well.
Locke sounds solid in halo 5 . Didn’t know it was some other guys voice but good job to who it was, thought I wasn’t gonna like Locke but he’s solid like chief
While I like Ike Amadi’s voice…I just always picture lock as Mike Colter, he was Locke in Halo Nightfall and he was lock in the opening cutscene of the MCC. I do think that 343 did the respectful thing of telling him he can go if he wants to and not locking him to his contract. (Mike was offered the role of Luke Cage by Marvel during the development of halo 5)

Jessica Jones is already on Netflix, and he[Mike Colter] shows up in many of the episodes, including the first.

You read that? I hadn’t seen anything.
@ others: I hadn’t seen anything Colter has done but I thought he was adequate. I think it would be odd if they were to replace him.
I don’t think there was a dispute he hadn’t done the voice yet just the motion capture and then he was busy when they needed him for the voice.
He should still be patched in IMO.
Colter is OK but he always seems to play the same character (Luke Cage/Jessica Jones). Serious, straight arrow, good guy.
Really, really enjoy Ike Amadi a lot. Saw him on launch day on Twitch stream, and he is very likable in person too. He was Javik in ME3 if you’ve played it, one of my favorite characters.
I forced myself to watch Nightfall, it was a well done sci-fi flick but completely generic and not for a minute did it remind me of Halo. Don’t remember the story at all except when
the little ponies get eaten
