Please don’t make us play as this guy, please. The voice actor is terrible, he was terrible in nightfall and just seems like a useless character in general. This is Halo, we want to play as Chief, no one else. Stop this insanity in trying to replace the Chief ASAP.
From what I understand, the story revolves around Chief, so I would assume 343i will do the Halo 2 character swap thing. Some levels you play as Locke, some as Chief.
Well 343 have the potential to make Locke play differently, maybe chief plays like classic halo while Locke has access to the more modern features, like the thrust and ADS.
Stop saying we halo does not revolve around John he isn’t being replaced and we don’t only have to play as him in every single game. It seems the part of the community that only plays games want to limit the universe or something.

Chief has more than ample access to the new Spartan technology. We’re only going to get one multiplayer style so we’re going to get one campaign style.

Not gonna lie, Nightfall was just bad. I stuck with it till the end (WTF ONLY 5 EPISODES WTF!!!) Hoping it’d get better. It did not…No flood, just hunters made into rapey tentacle worms. I had high hopes, nightfall crushed them…
That being said I hope Locke in game will be better. The voice actor is great IMO. Good actor, plus come on Locke does look cool.

Pretty much this. I found amazing how the main character from nightfall was boring. In fact, everybody was boring. The five episodes were a show of boredom
Maybe he will get a better personality in the game.
Relax. It’s not the end of the damn universe if you’re not playing a game that’s 100% devoted to Chief.

Even if you didn’t like Locke in Nightfall, we have no idea what it will be like to see him in Halo 5 as a Spartan or to play as him. I’m intrigued by his character and have high hopes for him.
John isn’t the be all and end all of Halo.

That award goes to Captain Keyes unless you’ve read the books. I expect Locke’s character to shine in Halo 5. After all we have barely seen Locke in a Halo game. Don’t let Nightfall finalize your decision on him.
You’ll pry play as locke, chief, and arbiter. I bet that’ll be the three you play in coop too (hopefully the 4th player is the shipmaster elite from h2/h3) makes sence to me.
Halsey warned us at the beginning of Halo 4 that they want to replace him.

I happen to agree. Locke so far is not that interesting. Nightfall did nothing to get me excited to play as the character. His acting is not that good either. Even in the Halo 2 Anniversary cut scenes with him his performance was super flat. So far Lasky is the only 343 character that is really any good. Everyone else is either WAY over the top (Palmer) or just plain forgettable.
I haven’t heard any of locke’s backstory other than watching Nightfall, so tbh, I don’t think we can really say he’s boring. We don’t know anything about him yet. Personally after playing the whole first Halo, I thought Chief was a God-damn boring character. Then I read some backstory, played the 2, 3 and 4 and enjoyed playing as him after I found some of his context/backstory.

I would be the fourth character on purpose if we can play as rtas.
