Spartan IV Dialogue/ References/ Easter eggs

So I’ve just been playing through the Campaign mission “Infinity” with the IWHBYD skull on. I decided to stare at one of the Spartan IVs to see if I could get him to say anything interesting and he mentioned something along the lines of “I heard you served with Keyes back in '52. The man was a legend, I escorted him back in '35 during the riots”. Thought it was a nice reference to The Cole Protocol.

Anyone else got any stories of references to other events/ characters or easter eggs that the Spartan IVs have said? I’d like to learn more about them, they’re an interesting bunch.

A couple more said they’d fought alongside Chief in various times e.g. “Green hills” in '27" and “Remember Miridem In '44? We fought shoulder to shoulder on that rock before it fell”. A Spartan II just so happens to have died on Miridem as well.

Another has mentioned “I spotted a Model II before. Spartan-058. She was an absolute beast with a sniper. You know her?”

Those are some…pretty cool easter eggs and references. I’ve hear a couple of these before, but not the last one you mentioned.

Fred and Kelly are also mentioned. One of them will say something along the lines of “I fought with 104 back on Reach. Did you know him?” and another will wish “087 was here, we could have used her speed back there.” Oh and someone will mention how they were trained by the Sarge and he didn’t come back from the Ark in 52, which is a Johnson reference.

Halsey is also mentioned:

“Did you hear what happened to Halsey? Somebody should debrief you on that.”

The Spartan-IVs certainly have some great references in their dialogue.

Yeah, it’s nicd!

My favorite one is this.

“Hey, Chief! Remember me? We fought together back in Voi.”

I think one of the craziest things is that most of the Spartan IV’s are all soldiers who seem to have been inspired by Chief or other Spartan II’s.

I should clarify though that this was from an MP on Ivanoff Station.

To hear a lot of these in a short time, the best place is the Pelican hangar at the beginning of Shutdown. Lots of Spartans and troops to listen to there.

Personally I think the best time is right before you take the Mantis aboard Infinity, only because on Shutdown, you have a loud announcer and Cortana constantly talking to you when you’re trying to listen. On Infinity you don’t have any interruptions.

Here’s all the ones I could find:

“They said you fought under captain Jacob Keyes back in '52; man was a legend. Escorted him back in '35 during the riots. God rest his soul.”

“I spotted for a class II once; 0058, you know her? She was an absolute beast with the sniper.”

“Got my teeth on Madrigal back in '28, what about you?”

“Remember Miridiem in '44? We fought shoulder to shoulder on that rock, before it fell.”

“Fought along side 104 on Reach before it all went to hell, you know him?”

“The naval networks have listed you as KIA since '52, Chief. Earth’s gonna be surprised to hear you’re back. Things have been going sideways ever since the end of the war.”

“You remember Jericho-7, Chief? Fought together there back in '35.”

“You heard about what happened to Halsey, right Chief? Somebody should brief you.”

“Been running counter-ops on Innie populations the past few years. Feels good to fight alpha-bravos again.”

“This Requiem situation is in hand, we got class IVs all over it.”

“Remember Circinius IV? Anniversary was just last week. Those kids never had a chance…”

“Requiem’s gonna be fast and solid with this many Spartans on the ground.”

“I fought with you on Green Hills back in '27. I was just an ODST back then.”

“Any word from 087? Could have really used her speed back there.”

“Spartan IVs operate under Orion protocols, we’re completely legal. You, however, are something completely different.”

“I fought with you on Green Hills back in '27. I was just an ODST back then.”

Say he was 16-18 years old and a very young ODST. Then tack on another 30-ish years. Just how old are these IVs?

Any where from legal age of enlistment (18) to maybe (and this is pushing it honestly) Johnson’s age, maybe a little bit younger then that.

Cryo sleep slows the aging process during slipspace travel. Buck is technically a 30 year old veteran

The SIVs sound a lot more interesting after hearing this.

Hopefully we can learn more about their stories in the future.

Can’t believe one actually spotted for Linda. That would’ve been an easy job.

Great thread I will keep watching.

These are all great!

It’s making me more and more helpful for Blue Team in it’s entirety to pop up in the main series.

You sure that’s right? Shouldn’t he be MIA?

He actually was listed K.I.A, ironic right?

He still is classed as KIA to the public in 2610

Even though he should still be listed as MIA in the naval networks. As this video stats

It’s right. Perhaps the naval networks started listing Spartan as KIA once the Spartan IV project started, to avoid confusion with that many soldiers. They might have gone back and changed it for the Spartan IIs and IIIs as well.

I would assume they’re still listed as MIA for the general public though, as the live action Halo 3 commercials aren’t canon.

Actually, watch the prologue cinematic again. Halsey says that John’s file reads MIA. The line is a simple over-sight.
