I think a Spartan-II specialization would’ve been cool. Mark-V armor unlock, classic AR skin, Im not sure what kind of AA would go with it though.
so there would be a spec that allows old outdated tech from several years ago?
lame.
they are called Spartan IV for a reason.
no point in going back in time.

Hate to break it to you, but Spartan IIs are superior in every way to Spartan IVs.

if you want to play as another Spartan II go play halo 3 and let me enjoy the progression of the stories. no need to muck it up by having us go back in time. it makes no sense.
also, what toa freak said.

Not really. They are superior genetically, but the augmentations developed for the Spartan III and IV programs were meant to replicate the results of the S-II program. The average Spartan IV and IV would be on par with a Spartan II (speaking strictly in terms of augmentations).
More on topic: I would love a non-canon “S-II” specialization if only to unlock classic mk. V

I stated no desire of anything of the sort.
I am just saying that Spartan IIs, despite being older, used superior technology in their creation, and over all are faster, stronger, and smarter, than Spartan IVs.
The only arguably “better” things the Spartan IV’s have are the new Mjolnir armors.
But even then their energy shield output and armor strength is vastly inferior to the Mark VI. The only improvement is that it is substantially cheaper to manufacture.

Incorrect. Spartan IIs not only have their bones coated in a ceramic-titanium composite(iirc), something the Spartan IV’s lack, but their gene therapy is much more rigorous.
In order of best to worst.
- Spartan II
- Spartan IV
- Spartan III
- Spartan I
Spartan II Specailization: Health Bar
I HATE the no Health Bar system. Always have.

id rather have 100 S IVs then 1 II
also i mean canon wise it doesnt make sense to back and have a spec that gives them old outdated stuff thats why i would think it would be lame.
to each their own of course. i like the S II better just cause the armor and size of them are more intimidating but i want the story to progess with the new IVs.
Eh, no thanks.
Wargames are part of the story now, we’re not going to suddenly see Spartans going “spartan II” all of a sudden.
Change the name and we’re in business.

You’d rather have 100 Spartan IVs, that have proven over and over how useless they are, over a Spartan II, a single of which is pretty much exclusively responsible for saving Earth twice?
Gotcha

I’m not sure where you are getting your information, but it is very off.
Spartan-IIs had more invasive augmentations, but that’s about all. The augmentations received by the Spartan-IIIs were chemical in nature, and replicated every aspect of the Spartan II augmentations, minus the high rate of death/crippling.
As for S-IVs, the nature of their augmentations has not been revealed. However, they would, at the very least, receive the augmentation given to the S-IIIs. The ceramic-coated bones are necessary to allow them to use Mjolnir.

boom, owned!
the advantage is that now when you make a spartan there isnt a 70/30 shot at them being crippled or dead.
also, when did they prove themselves useless? (except thorne)

Canonically it’s because the Mk 6 armors and beyond have built in bio-foam injectors.

The augmentations of the Spartan IIIs -ATTEMPTED- to replicate that of the SIIs but to no avail. That combined with inferior genes and mental instabilities resulted in an inferior Spartan. This is covered extensively in the books. The Spartan IV program allowed an even broader spectrum and candidates to enroll, and these even lacked being trained from a young age.
The ceramic coating is not required. Capability of controlling muscle movement is. The marine that died by wearing the Mjolnir armor did not do so because of fragile bones, but because his muscles were unable to compensate for the magnitutde of the magnification in motor movement the Mjolnir afforded. Neither the Spartan IIIs nor IVs have the coated bones.
> also, when did they prove themselves useless? (except thorne)
The rebelling of Thorne not withstanding.
Countless dead during the defense of the UNSC Infinity after forcible crashland at the hands of the Didact.

could you direct me to where you found this please?
from my understanding the IIs had the augmentations that crippled them to hell and then afterword they made the same augmentations available minus the crippled,dead/normal ratio thus making the IVs just like the IIs only a tad smaller and without the whole kidnapping and torturing kids part…

No, you didn’t. The augmentations performed on Spartan II candidates killed or maimed roughly 1/2 of them. Those that successfully received the augmentations were elevated to Spartan II status. The augmentations used on Spartan III and IVs were modified so that they would pose less to no risk of rejection. This also however yielded the side effect of them not being as potent.
> The augmentations of the Spartan IIIs -ATTEMPTED- to replicate that of the SIIs but to no avail. That combined with inferior genes and mental instabilities resulted in an inferior Spartan. Not attempted, did. Again, I have no idea where you are getting your information, but it is incorrect. The book Ghosts of Onyx has sections were Spartan-IIIs are able to perform and keep up with Kurt, a Spartan-II, and worked well with Spartan-IIs despite the IIIs having inferior armor.
As time went on, the augmentations were improved and made to be applicable to a wider gene pool. Halsey choose her Spartan candidates because of the high risks of her augmentation procedures and to get the best results. After those results were quantified, ONI scientists were able to replicate those results without the invasive procedures or the high rate of death.

The ceramic coating is very much required.
> Your enhanced musculature and the metal and ceramic layers that have been bonded to your skeleton should be enough to allow you to harness the armor’s power
i think i may have to side with toa freak again…

Actually I take something back. I recall now that Spartan IIIs did receive the bone modifications. However, that does not change the fact that the average Spartan II out performed the Spartan IIIs. The modifications were estimated to give a 300% boost in performance for the average Spartan III. However, due to the gene combing the Spartan IIs received, they saw nearly a 1500% increase in base performance. This was covered in Nylund’s GoO.
Man I’d love that! I’ve always hated the Mk6, Mk5 from Combat Evolved looked SO much better. What would they call that specialization? Retro? Hell Yeah! With original looking weapons that only look original to you. Make you think you’re playing CE on H4 Maps.
