Spartan-II or Spartan-IV?

The Master Chief is an icon that has won our love within the video game industry. When he appears on the scene he infuses respect and hope in humanity, the last resort not to lose war.
The Master Chief is a legend.
The Spartan-II survivors, I can imagine that they are also feared and seen as the only hope that humanity has against any enemy.
What if you could control another Spartan?
Not in co-op mode as in the campaign Halo 5:Guardians,if not with their own story.
There are so many Spartans-II:
Joshua-029 (Red Team Leader)
James-005
Jorge-052
Among others, small stories inside a video game like Spartan ops.
On the other hand, are the Spartan-IV who are most recent in the war … well I do not know what to say about them.
What do you think of this?

Not sure what exactly you mean but I would always choose Spartan II

I think he means, what if each legendary Spartan had their own game?

Like a Spartan version of Halo 3: ODST.

What, no love for the III’s?

TBH, I’d pick the IV’s if I had to play a new character other than John. Like… Buck maybe. I like Buck. Or Thorne, because he was actually pretty cool for a new recruit. A lot of the IV’s could learn something from him.

I would certainly much rather focus on the Spartan II’s. I enjoy them as soldiers and as characters more than the vast majority of Spartan IV’s I’ve seen so far. For IV’s, Thorne and Buck were cool. If Locke was more like Nightfall he would’ve been great.

Exactly!

I would choose Gray Team because they operate behind enemy lines so it would be super fun mission.

Correct, but they are so unbearable, the clear example is Palmer, I hope she dies in Halo 6, just bla, bla, bla…bla. How many times have you seen her in combat?
Only coordinates the attacks of the Fireteam Spartan aboard UNSC infinity.

Both have their place, ultimately the Spartan IIs have been out longer and there’s more info to them so I’m not suprised people would pick them however much of the hate for the Spartan IVs is unwarranted and is do to a lack of understanding or bias for the Spartan IIs.

Palmer is a female.

She is in-command of the Spartan program, seeing her on the field is highly unlikely. The only reason why the S-II’s are on the ground, even though a couple of members of Blue Team are high ranking officers (Mainly leaning towards Fred), is because that’s what they were intended to do – Fight. Spartan II’s and III’s were harder to come across, so they were all usually on-the-field. Now that anyone can become a Spartan IV, there’s a less need for them and there’s more of them.

I’m sorry about that. But she has not earned the affection of the fans or who knows … maybe yes.
At least I don’t like it

That’s rather extreme and quite uncalled for. Other than her boring lines in SpartanOps, and we know who wrote that, she was hardly deserving of the fairly irrational hate she was getting. Until Escalation and her grudge that was way out of control, which is understandable. She’s been improving and as long as you-know-who isn’t the one writing her lines and scenes, she will probably continue to improve. THAT is what people should be hoping for, improvement.

As for combat, she was one of the main characters of Spartan Assault wasn’t she? So technically you’re reliving combat missions she went on in the past as a simulation experience.

Someone had to replace Johnson, 343 brought Palmer in. She might not be an incredible successor, but she does the role.

this is an interesting idea
for me, it has been difficult to choose between IIs and IIIs…IVs have only recently come into the picture so I cant really judge (although i think we can all agree that Buck will wreck some -Yoink-)
IIs have a really great telling of their prowess especially with Blue team
IIIs also have a solid telling with Noble team (with the exception of Jorge who is in fact a II)
so u see my dilemma, lol

I think you only have to look at the Master Chief vs Locke fight to know Spartan 2s completely outclass the Spartan 4s. During that fight, Master Chief rips Locke’s rifle out of his hands, smashes it across Locke’s face, and then later punches Locke in the face with Locke’s own fist. Spartan 2s can literally play “why are you hitting yourself” with Spartan 4s.

The III’s were far inferior to the original II’s. The Spartan III program wasn’t run by Halsey, it was run directly by ONI. Their failure rate was astronomical, most didn’t make it through their genetic and physical enhancements. Those that did make it, were used as cannon fodder against the Covenant.

II’s will always be my favorite. Reading about the way they were made/trained in the Fall of Reach was amazing. They were chosen before they were ten years old, and RAISED for just one thing: fighting.

The IV’s just aren’t the same, they don’t have the same ingrained mentality that ALL the II’s always had. Ever think you’ll hear a Spartan from Blue Team talking about who will buy the first round? Doubtful.

You forgot about Jun, he’s still alive. Yea i gotta go with spartan-II obviously i think because they have gone through much harder training. Surgeries that only they few could survive through, and do I even have to say anymore? We all know.

I think this has gone out of context!

If you are asking would I rather see a Spartan 4 or Spartan 2 in the role of the protagonist in a Halo spin off title , I would say a Spartan 2.
