Okay so it’s obvious that Chief is a Spartan 2! And the Reclaimer Saga is all about Spartan 4’s! It’s hard to tell if any Spartan 3’s will be in Halo: Infinite! With that being said can you guys please make the Spartans different! Halo: 5 should of been that way. Chief and blue team should of had armor equipment not ability’s with there armor! Spartan 3’s and 4’s should also differ from one another!
Couple things:
- the current saga is the Reclaimer Saga. The Forerunner saga refers to the trilogy of novels by Greg Bear. - Many Spartan IIIs we’re inducted into the Spartan Branch, and have access to Gen2 armor like the Spartan IVs - Blue Team’s armors may be based on older models but they are still Gen2. - Halo 5 did have some differences between Spartans. Fireteam Osiris has advanced VISRs that Blue Team did not have.
It’s IV not IIII…

I totally missed that. Now I can’t stop smiling.
I like everyone else, don’t know what’s up with the story of Infinite, but I would assume that it takes place with the remaining force on the Infinity. That said, any remaining Spartan will most likely have access to the same armor systems as the next, indiscriminate to which Spartan program they were inducted into.

Jun is the only other one I can think of at the moment.

Wiki page says many SIIIs joined Spartan Branch, while the remaining SIIs and a few SIII companies remained part of the Navy.

How? Besides the ones I mentioned maybe the ones in cryo from glasslands/ghosts of onyx joined which would only be about 5.It was never really specific how many spartan 3s were left after the war

Apparently Halo Glasslands is the lore that details this information. Though I imagine “many” is relative, meaning “many of the remaining SIIIs”. I don’t think every SIII ever has been accounted for, by that I mean mentioned in lore or some media form. Certain companies and groups of SIIIs had undetermined numbers left over after the war. Likely a purposeful vague plot point so they can generate new stories with whatever kinds of characters they need.

The Visors weren’t the same it was just colored different!
And I know for a fact Jun is alive he trains Spartan 4’s aboard the Infinity! He is still a Spartan 3 as from Halo: Escslation I believe it was!

No, I’m not talking about visor colors. VISR refers to the Visual Intelligence System Reconnaissance, a software integrated into the helmets of ODSTs and Spartans with new Gen2 armor models. In game, Fireteam Osiris has more advanced VISRs, which is depicted by pressing up or down on the D-pad to create a scanning field that temporarily highlights points of interest, like weapons and collectibles and objective points. This is the Artemis Tracking System, an upgrade to Fireteam Osiris’ VISRs. Blue Team does not have this feature in the game.

He is referring to their equipment like Artemis. That was all the tech stuff you use in Halo 5’s story when you play as Osiris.

Gamma company (minus the three teams of five who stayed behind to compete for top honors) deployed roughly a week before the battle of Onyx, which took place at about the same time as the battle for Earth. That means 315 Gamma company Spartans could have survived the war.

The runback on the IVs was something which never made any sense to me. Initially the IVs were introduced as these fledgling Spartans who were more capable than Marines and ODSTs but less capable than IIs and IIIs; cut to the next game and suddenly the IVs are at parity with their vastly superior counterparts because ‘armour mods.’ Why not just establish that the IVs received revised III augmentations—which were already as effective as the II implants only much safer and less costly—to begin with? Apparently the UNSC improved its technological prowess tenfold using Forerunner reverse engineering, but forgot the recipe to the 930 IIIs they made a few years earlier. Now we’re at a point where 343 have done what they do best by essentially simplifying every Spartan into a II.

Tom and lucy get upgraded to GEN 2 mjolnir by the legacy of oynx book and have them depicted on the cover in case your curious to see it, but after all the posts about it throughout the years i’m sure the community would love a mjolnir version of SPI armor.

Pretty sure that was largely fan assumption.
No, the IVs definitely have fewer augmentations than the IIs and IIIs, as well as substantially inferior training and experience. I believe that the Spartan IV comic series details that the IVs are closer to the Is in terms of capabilities due to the fact that the UNSC sourced adults as opposed to children which limited the IVs’ augmentation capabilities (which are visually represented in Thorne’s files in the Halo 4 LE). Not sure where it explicitly states that GEN II was designed to bridge the gap between the IIs and IVs though since I stopped keeping up with the lore after Halo 4, but that seems to be the general narrative based off of what I’ve read from the community and what happened in Halo 5 shortly before Chief beat Locke in that lame fight.
What I used to see all the time were people assuming that the IIIs were weaker than the IIs because the one time they were visually apposed to one another the II dwarfed the IIIs, but in actuality it was because Jorge was a giant even by Spartan standards.

The S-IVs possess a different form of augmentations, not necessarily lesser. This is the extent of their augments. Notice that their augmentations are very similar to their predecessors.
A thing to note is that much has been improved in the way adults can be augmented compared to when it was originally administered for the Spartan-Is. The S-IIs augments were used on children due to the fact their then-growing bodies were more accepting of them, but the procedure was still extremely volatile. By the time the S-IIIs came around just 10 years later the procedure was refined greatly, yet still producing the same results. With even further time for testing, administering the quite extensive augmentations to adults was very successful. The end results are still inferior to the S-IIs and S-IIIs, but not as much as people imply.
Another thing to note is that S-IVs are further trained upon induction into the program, on top of what experience they may already have. The training is difficult enough to make Buck, a grizzled ODST, make comment about it.
GEN.2 armor makes all Spartan generations operate at the same efficiency. There have been debates whether S-IIs get more out of GEN.2 than S-IVs, but the only information we have is Frankie simply stating that an S-IV can go toe-to-toe with an S-II in armor. Further proof of that is the deployment and subsequent fight between Locke and Chief in Halo 5. The rest of FT Osiris were stated to be able to stand against Blue team, experience notwithstanding.
