So it seems to me that the information on how the Spartan III showed up in Reach is not that clear. We all know that the program started in 2531 only 14 years after the Spartan II program. Yet, As I do some digging there isn’t really any info on who trained the Spartan III before Kurt. And worst, In book, Ghost of Onyx, They make it seem as though Lieutenant Commander Kurt was the first to train them. Which would make everything just backwards. I’m finding it hard to make this bridge when both sources are saying mostly contradicting things. I hope someone and make sense of this for me.

Kurt WAS the first one who trained the Spartan-IIIs, he and Chief Mendez were both recruited at the same time for that purpose. Reach doesn’t exactly contradict anything. Carter, Emile and Jun are from Alpha Company and Kat and Noble Six are from Beta Company. All of them were pulled from their respective companies prior to each one being wiped out. Hence, they were able to grow up to 2552, the year the Battle of Reach took place.
I’m struggling to understand your problem.
The issue I am having is that Kurt was still fight during the Fall of Reach. He wasn’t appointed to trying the Spartan III until After the Fall. So who trained the noble teams on Reach? I’m sorry if am missing something, I just don’t get it.
You have actually read the books, correct? Kurt never fought on Reach. From 2531 to 2552, he has been training the S-IIIs, which would’ve included Noble Team. Like I said, Carter, Emile and Jun were part of the first company of IIIs and Kat and Noble Six were part of the second company. Noble was trained well before the Fall of Reach.
Yes I did read the books. It seems like the years of how everything comes to play is what is getting to me. For some reason I was associating the ONI faked Kurts death on Reach. Do you mind and refreshing me on how that went down? I have to start paying more attention to those date on each chapter…
ONI did fake Kurt’s death during an investigation of a “malfunctioning” slipspace drive at a space station in 2531, in reality he was given a bad thruster pack that sent him into deep space where he was recovered by ONI in secret. After that, he trained the S-IIIs until 2552. After the Fall of Reach, Kurt was overseeing training of a few Gamma Company S-III teams competing for some special honors and died during the Covenant invasion of Onyx roughly during the events of Halo 2.
Wow, your right. It make sense, I don’t know why I didn’t see it but it’s all there. Would you say then that why Reach was going under, so was Onyx during there little take over? Or was it First reach and THEN Onyx, seeing as Kelly is with Halsey.
Reach happens, then most of the latter half of Ghosts of Onyx takes place.
