So I posted the idea of an insurrectionist Spartan program that would attempted to make their own version of Spartans but fall short in more ways than one. Still as augmented power armored soldiers they could be considered a different generation of Spartans rather than an equal to that of the 4th generation. In another thread talking about the possible end of the Spartan IV program due to high casualties and loss of many UNSC worlds in the AI wars, I was thinking about what future generations might look like. Now these new generations would be more like a new process of recruiting training and augmenting thus resulting in something other than the prior generations. Also sort of a rule of thumb (borrowing from Vampire the Masquarade) each generation after the augmentation process would be weaker than the prior generation when not in their power armor, but depending on the resources of that generation the power armor could make it equal or even better than the previous generations.
Now I have talked about the insurrectionist Spartan V generation before. This wouldn’t be a very successful generation and insurrectionist resources aren’t anywhere near that of ONI (or the rest of the UNSC). Not to mention some rather crude power armor. Against a unarmored Spartan IV they would lose and if they were Armored against an unarmored Spartan IV they might have a chance. Also the attrition rate of the augmentation would be higher than the Spartan IIs and also their life cycle will be cut dramatically short as their body rejects the aggressive augmentations. After augmentation the longest a Spartan V could expect to live was 12 years and only remain combat effective for mayb 10. Basically it was a do now or else we won’t have later type solution for the Insurrectionist embroiled with current conflict not only against the UNSC but against Prometheans, Banished and even the flood. They need their own Spartans and many more than just the handful of defectors that have crossed over to their side.
Spartan VI would be a UNSC revival of the Spartan IVs after their catastrophic losses during the AI wars pretty much halting the procurement of more 4th generation augmentation implants. Now the next program will once again focus more on Power armor technology than augmentation much like the Spartan IVs to cut down on augmentation attrition but still have moderate augmentation as that is what separates a Spartan from any other marine or soldier in the UNSC. Unarmored against an unarmored Generation V the VI will get its backside handed to them, but the VI is likely still going to survive for more than 12 years after augmentation where as the Vs will not. Also their new generation of Mjolnir would make them the equivalent of their past 4th generation if not stronger.
Spartan VII would be an Insurrectionist attempt to correct the failed 5th generation. Somehow they got access to competent power armor and made some modifications. Now instead of full augmentation they would try to get around the augmentation attrition rate by only partial implants. Mostly these would be less intrusive connections to injectors that have been placed within the power armor. Where as if needed the power armor can provide some drug boosts to include coagulants, stimulants, pain relievers, dopamine, even some oxygenated blood if necessary. Now granted this means without the armor they are barely any different than say an elite ODST trooper (and not really any stronger). So without armor would lose to a Spartan VIs. With armor it is about even but the VIs still have a slight advantage as they are fully augmented where as the VIIs are just set up so they could connect with the injectors in their version of power armor.
So that is my take on what could be a story for the 5th, 6th and 7th generation of Spartans, but what about you, what do you think would be a good story for further spartan generations?
I’m personally not too keen on the idea of Insurrectionists having Spartans. It ruins the vibe of a rebellion. A rebellion should have less advanced things altogether let alone having a Spartan (even if it is a horrible version). Instead I would like to see the continuation of the Spartan-IV program maybe with wave 3 coming up? If there was some way to have children with the genes that Halsey was looking for in the IIs that’d be amazing to have. If we ever got to play as those Spartans when they were grown up a bit more, I’d really like that.

Understood, I used the insurrectionist line mostly to increase the number of generations. So how would you make a Spartan V and what would your backstory for the 5th Generation of Spartans?
Reading your post maybe some cloning or invito-embryo process to make the children much like the ones inducted into the Spartan II program? Not a bad theory, I was thinking that the UNSC goal after the ethical was to make the Spartan program eventually all in the Mjolnir armor with augmentation not even necessary, but in a new way where even the person is manufactured much like the armor could also be an interesting take and have just as much ethical questions on it as inducting soldiers or conducting operational procedure that will dramatically reduce the lifespan of the subject.

How would I make a Spartan V iteration? Well it may be closer than we think. It could be launched after Infinite. This may be because they want to attempt to try and make Spartans great without the armour. They may be able to make it work this time, and so cut the cost of Spartans drastically. I do believe that this is not ever gonna happen however, which I’m rather thankful for. I’d prefer to just keep the Spartan-IV program unless their numbers fall drastically.

Closest we have is the insurrection trying to steal the drugs. And of course IIsa Zane one of the original Spartan IV’s that they pumped so full of drugs so they wouldn’t need armor. Hunt the Truth season 2 told us she was ripping ODST’s apart with her bare hands.

So what would your idea for the 5th (or even further generations) would be? I just used the insurrectionist bent to make another spartan that wasn’t exactly 4th gen.

The Insurrectionists didn’t steal drugs, they chemically made them themselves, which is what they used to try fight against Spartans. At some point the UNSC procured them somehow and were made aware that the Innies were using them. We know that after the Innies injected the drugs, they would die within an hour. As for Ilsa Zane she was driven mad by the extensive augmentations that she had which made her change sides.
Honestly, considering the resources it took to create Spartans for the UNSC, I doubt the insurrection could do it without ONI realising, so I’m not really sure this makes sense from a lore perspective.

Okay, so without the insurrection plot, what do you think will be the next generation(s) of Spartans and how would they be recruited/inducted augmented and armored?
