Anyone else not at all happy with the system devised for infinite in terms of selecting your spartans physical appearance? Every halo game past 3 has made male and female spartans distinct from each other while still being the same, but in infinite we have three options of androgynous male bodies with one that could pass as female but doesn’t. Where are the wider hips? Slender waists? Smaller arms? Halo reach and 5 had it perfect, you could always tell what gender each spartan was by a glance, but every spartan in infinite looks like a guy with the only thing to indicate gender being the voice. I think this is a huge mis-step especially for a game about making your spartan YOU. I pray im wrong and that we only got to see the male models and that the female models are somewhere down the line but if not spartans are all going to look like beef cakes, or slightly skinnier beef cakes
I agree. My fiancee is considering picking it up when it launches, but it would be ridiculous if in 2021 she couldn’t select a proper female model for her Spartan.
343, please don’t regress!
I get it… but they also got critized pretty bad for the female Spartans… um… features… as well as Cortonas changing figure over the years. Maybe they’re playing it safe, but I agree they could still tastefully achieve a female Spartan look without Kat’s butt. Surely there’s female Spartans in campaign so we’ll see…
Not all Spartans are going to look like beefcakes? Do you know what a Spartan is? Because that’s sorta what they are: biological and physically augmented beefcakes. I get your argument, but I personally believe the female Spartans were far too small in Reach-5, not matching uo to the whole “hard to tell individuals apart” while in armor. So personally I am happy for this change being a lore buff, but I get where you casually folk come from as well. Maybe they’ll have your gen2 core so you can have tiny arms again, but I hope they don’t touch Mk VII personally.

Casual folk??? I know this series from back to front. And yes for a while spartans where meant to be kept androgynous, to keep the mystery of these super soldiers going, this isn’t the case anymore with spartan 4’s, and it would be dumb to step back 10 steps because of lore from 10 years ago

I have never seen 343 get backlash for the size of female spartans rumps, nor should they, these are people brought to their absolute physical peaks, strong legs come with a strong large behind its simple anatomy

I just assumed, I apologize, no need to get worked up. But “holding it back” is a bit much. And that’s not why they looked the same, you’d know if you “know the series front to back”, they looked the same because they were in identical armor that hid all those features. Because do we really need big hips and butts to move forward as you are suggesting? I don’t think so personally. If you want a very feminine looking Spartan… well, that sucks because they aren’t wearing those muscle suits anymore.
I kinda like the idea that the physical difference isn’t necessarily super obvious in the Mjölnir.
Edit: Besides, the characteristics that many may associate as feminine become less visible on people with as much muscles as Spartans.

Its not moving forward, its the way its been, if anything we are going backwards, im not saying we need the female spartans to be as dumby thick as they were in reach or 5 but at least SOMETHING to distinguish them apart from their male counterparts, the options provided did not do this in the slightest.

And you might get those features in different armor cores. We have not seen even half of what this game has to offer, and we know that the Mk V from Reach will be a core. So if you use that information and think that they will most definitely have a female version of it from Reach, you should be happy. And I personally disagree, I feel the Mk VII is exactly what the gendered Spartans should be like, very similar but different. I believe you shouldn’t be able to tell at a glance what they are personally.
@HotNWetMess… I’ve heard it multiple times. There’s montages on YouTube. I do agree most of the attention was on Cortona changes.
I personally didn’t think to much of them, but they did garner some talks.

I vote we keep Kat’s butt
Overall the “player first approach” didn’t shine through during the flight. In the majority of games I played my Spartan was indistinguishable from the rest. Set color schemes seemed to only decrease the uniqueness of each Spartan while the prosthetic limbs added no flair or excitement, just grey boring appendages. I agree with many others that the original color scheme be included in addition the the set color combinations. I also think the prosthetics should have some customization of their own.
I am a little bit worried that all we’ll get for body options is the 3 different torso sizes we saw in the tech preview and possibly our voices.
Kelly, Linda and Kat would be disappointed and I will be too.

All Spartans should be dummy thicc. And the clap of their Mjolnir should show up on the motion tracker.
Yea, having proper female spartans as an option would be nice and offer more flavor, as well as being inclusive, which is a huge part of being “player first”. Also, it would be nice to hear female spartan chatter mixed in with the men. (if there already was, I genuinely couldn’t tell).

Anyone expecting a flight to represent full customisation when they said it wouldn’t be in this flight is just being silly.
Stop worrying about it. Its a tech preview not a butt review.
Spartans shouldn’t be overtly delicate feminine figures, Spartan women should be muscular too - too often in media strong women are depicted as twigs.
I’m all for the thicc thigh female Spartans but do they really need tiny arms? Really?.
I’m sure their will be more body types at launch and possible variations through armour cores and future updates. It is live service after all.

Never at all thought that this would be the endgame for body types in this game but for all we know it could be, this game is set to launch this year around holidays so i cant imagine much more being added in these next few months of dev time. What im hoping is that this system is used on both types of spartan, male and female, so you could choose to have your buff female spartan oooor you could have your petite female spartan or the inbetween, instead of us being shackled to androgynous body types with no real flavour

I too never heard any female spartan chatter, could be due to the fact everyone was locked as males in the flight and you couldnt have females on your team

There was female voices, I can assure you. I killed a few and heard the female death no worries they are included.
