SPARTAN Customization UI Ideas

I have some ideas on how to better manage the SPARTAN Customization UI. I am using armor as an example, but this can be applied to helmets and visors as well. Weapon skins, assassinations, stances, emblems, etc. are all fine; it would be nice if we could just bookmark/favorite our favorites.

This is my idea on armor organization.

  • Show every base armor in the customization menu.
  • Grey out armors you haven’t unlocked (similar to how it is on Waypoint). - Only show base armors, then have skins in a sub-folder.
  • Similar to helmet customization in Reach. You had a selection for HAZOP, then under that you had options for different attachments for the base helmet. - I.E. Armor–> Recruit–> Recruit, Recruit Charred, Recruit Marked, Recruit Proven (organized by rarity) - Organize base armors by rarity, not in the order in which you got them.
  • Even though Recruit Marked is Uncommon, and Recruit Proven is Rare, you would still organize the base Recruit armor (or section, depending on how you look at it) as a common armor. - Have an option to bookmark/favorite your favorite armors. That way you can just filter to the armors that you really like.
I would love to see these ideas put into a future Halo 5 update, or even Halo 6. However, I don’t expect 343i will make such major changes considering the game has been out for almost a year. At the very least, I would love a bookmark/favorite feature.

What do you guys think?

I take it you like the idea then?

I have been saying this since launch! Why would I ever want to see the order I unlocked them. It makes it impossible to compare variants of the same armor set.

but numenorean, this idea make way too much sense to be put in a game…

This is really well thought out. I like it. Wonder how hard it’d be to implement.

Exactly!

Thank you. I’m not a game programer by any means, but it shouldn’t be too hard I would think.

The customization UI is bewilderingly obtuse, in Halo 5. I actually don’t even use it: I customize my spartan from the Requisitions -> Collection menu, since there it is organized mostly as described above (but I can’t see my spartan as I customize). I would love for the actual customization menu to be friendlier for navigation. Especially if it could consolidate skins the way Reach consolidated attachments. Would cut that menu’s scale down by at least two-thirds.

That sounds amazing.

I was kind of insulted when the last update added the the ability to skip ahead by like 5 columns at a time. 343 realizes there is an issue navigating this menu, but skipping ahead doesnt help me if I don’t know where the armors are

I agree super good.

I normally just go Requisitions > Collection, and those armors are sorted by rarity, and in each rarity alphabetically.
But this UI sounds way cooler.

A filtering/ordering system should have been implemented on Day 1. Fire the idiot that thought making the order by how you get them was a smart idea. Then fire the other idiot who allowed it into the game. Its literally common sense.

Agreed.

Yep. It doesn’t make a lick of sense.

I think they would have added in a filtering/ordering system if they hadn’t been pressured with an early release. But then you would think that they would have fixed this in one of the updates…

343, please make this a reality.

I remember days when people brought up this idea, and others rejected and said everyone should be equal, because it’s Arena.

What are you saying? We are talking about a UI so that the customization options are actually organized. It doesnt have anything to do with arena

That is what I am saying. However, there were people who still stated everything should be equal, even UI.

Before I clicked on this I thought the exact same idea.
