Disclaimer: The ideas below would be for relatively new game modes we have in Halo so far, not for conventional competitive slayer. So don’t go off rambling this would be terrible before you take that into mind.
Okay folks. We all know how starting with Halo 3, one of the key things in making yourself unique and standing out in the game was to equip yourself with various pieces of armor ranging from helmets, shoulder pads, chest pieces, visor colors, what have you…
But it’s never had an effect on anything other than make you a bigger target, make little kids beg you for your Recon, and make people wonder how the heck you got blue flames.
What if in Halo 4 for the more TACTICAL game modes and types, armor directly effected gameplay? It could be in small ways by using the wrist attachment to view which power weapons are currently up, or your leg accessory increasing ammunition, from full on attributes given to each piece. Such as Recon making camo last longer, grenadier pieces decreasing explosive damage, etc…
I think it’d all be too complicated to work out full on attributes of every single piece, I do have specific ideas of what tactical attachment could do.
Using your tactical attachment would be used by one of the arrow pad buttons.
A TacPad could maybe tell you what power weapons and vehicles are up, but while you are in this mode it would take roughly 5 seconds for everything to come up, and someone shooting you would not make you come out of it so you would be very vulnerable if you checked this just anywhere.
A GPS device could be used to tag enemies and have a red arrow show above their head for your team. The effect would wear off after about ten seconds or wear off when they get out of your line of sight. If someones does get pinged by the enemy, a HUD icon would show up warning them of it. There would also be a cooldown time between tagging enemies.
Does that sound pretty cool…or pretty terrible? I personally like the idea myself.
If you like this, feel free to add on your own ideas.
