Can kill commendations in your Spartan company only be earned through arena and warzone, or can it also be done in custom games?

Don’t worry the company I am a member of has just finished cat 3 and we have unlocked the armor just the helmet now will take alot longer but hey we would all be playing the game anyway so this is a cool way to reward the loyal.
