Spartan Company Issue, any ideas for an old gamer?

Hello fellow Halo gamers,

Let me first start by introducing myself and give you a little background info into my problem and maybe you’ll be able to give me some hints.
My gamertag is TheDarkSpartan. I have been committed to Halo since Halo CE. To be truthful I played Halo 2 first but was instantly hooked and had to start from the beginning like any good story should. Anyhow, after years of playing I have found a group of people on the Xbox 360 who I started playing with regularly. We all have lives that involve jobs, children, spouses, etc. you get the point. We would always set aside game-play when all the kids were asleep so to have actual time to play. We decided to call ourselves Family of Friends or FOF for short. When the XBOX one came out a few of us switched over to play Halo MCC and then Halo 5. Sadly some didn’t or couldn’t and we all understood. Especially with backwards compatibility it really wasn’t a problem. Now after Halo 5’s been out for around 3 years now, our numbers are still the same but the group hasn’t played together in over a year for many different reasons. Life mostly I gather being that we are all 30 years of age and older. So this leads to my issue and questions:
With members not really playing together anymore, should I dissolve the Spartan Company or just leave it together and see what happens with Halo Infinite?

If you do dissolve, you should still keep in touch. That way if things become easier, or everyone gets Halo Infinite, you can still bring the team back together.
( ^_^)/

I’d wait til Halo infinite gets closer. It may spark interest in revitalize the spartan company. If it doesn’t then there probably is no hope and your better off dissolving then. Just my 2 cents

It sounds like you should communicate with the others… 30 yrs is nothing. CE came out in 2001, 17 yrs ago. So you guys were what… 13 yrs old?

I don’t have any specific advice for your SC but, Old Gamers represent. fist pump (37 here.)

The only thing I’ll say is, Infinite is likely still very far away, at least a year or more, so maybe leave the SC in place juuuuust in case you all decide you want to play again, we could still be playing H5 for a while.

Another ancient representing: 52. Yup, not a typo.

DarkSpartan, the only reason to break up the party, even if no one is currently attending, is if you yourself want to join a more active company. But odds are good you’ll run into similar problems with most of them. Odd schedules, waning interest in an older game, the vagaries of younger players and such. (Oh yeah, I went there.)

Probably be better to keep the company intact, but just leave and find a more active one until Infinite comes out. You could always rejoin that one if your friends decide to start playing again.

I was actually 18 years at the time. 35 years old now. Communication really isn’t the problem just interest it seems. Only a few are interested and even those are dwindle in the wind like a candle bout to burn out over the wait for the next first person shooter halo game.

I still remember when you could buy two pieces of penny candy for that. lol. But nah you got a point, thanks.

That is words of wisdom. thanks. my buddy coca cola beats the age. he’s 57 but he beats up on the younger ones when we need him too and when he can. hit me up if you’re ever in need of a gamer. If I can, i will. thanks

I’ve seen you around a long time here on the forums Dark.

I’d say keep it.

Worst case it can be a pleasant memory to look back on or show your kids or grandkids if it gets to that point.

Keep the company and wait till Halo Infinite

I’d get a discord server so you can all chat even though you don’t play. My Spartan company stopped playing H5 after about 1.5-2 years after launch but then we got a discord server. We play occasionally now and at least keep in contact through discord while we wait for Infinite.

Basically a better Skype, it’s very popular amongst gamers. Can get it on mobile/PC and they’re even slowly integrating it into xbox as well. My company hasn’t played H5 actively in a long time but discord allows us to stay in touch and chat and find new games to play together until Infinite comes out.

Like above, I would recommend Discord as a way to communicate. But in response to your question, I would also say wait until Infinite and see how it pans from there. Chances are it could bring up interest from your friends, but it’s pretty much the waiting game until then to determine the outcome.

Leave it together and see what happens! It’ll always be something that will be great to look back on and reminisce. Trust me, I know what you mean. I’m 29 years old, most of my friends are close to the same age if not older. We’ve lost touch but still get together about once a month to play Halo just like the old days.

I’d leave it together unless you have no one active :frowning: We started out that way too but ended up growing a lot. Most of us are all upper 20s and 30s who are just here to have fun  If you do dissolve, you can check out the XP Junkies but all in all, I’d leave it together because I’m sure Halo Infinite will have spartan companies and that’ll get a lot of people back in the game of halo

Maybe to spark more interest in your current members you could run a fun MCC campaign run thru or something. We actually just had a few of us take the week off Halo 5 to run thru all the old campaigns and it was really fun

Good Luck!!!
