Spartan Companies

Spartan companies! what are your thoughts about spartan companies in infinite, should they make a new system more accessible to players, should they keep them from halo 5 and would you like to see a reward as grindy as the chilies armour added?

Spartan Companies should definitely return, especially how well-received they were in Halo 5 and heartens back to the Halo 2 clans.

I’m sure Spartan Companies will return to some capacity but it likely wouldn’t be too different from how Halo 5 had it. 343 still has to accommodate to the majority who aren’t into the concept.

Sorry to bother, but what are spartan companies?

This is not where I’d expect a question like this and I’m not sure if this is a troll question or not but I’ll answer this from both a in-universe/lore and an online player’s experience standpoint regardless;

In-Universe/Lore: A Company is a large military formation consisting more than one platoon which are usually a branch off of a larger division. A Spartan Company isn’t too far off and at the moment, we know of three that existed, Alpha, Beta and Gamma Company which were all mission specific ones that were all made from Spartan-III Super Soldiers, each consisting of approximately 300 Spartan-IIIs.

Online Player’s Experience: A Spartan Company is an online experience where players can form their own team-like formation to earn company based accommodations. It’s basically just a legitimized version of online clans for Halo. Halo 5 was the first game to incorporate the Halo Waypoint site mechanic into the game.

Note: It’s currently unknown if the Spartan Company online mechanic has any canon status in the Halo. But if you’re considering the Achilles armor’s Halo Wapoint post isn’t tongue-in-cheek and 343’s attitude with incorperating content as canon no matter how dubious it could seem, then maybe they exist in-universe to some extent.

Ahh, yes, thanks for refreshing my memory. Just remembered from the book “last light”. And no it was not a troll question lol. And i kinda know nothing about online play.

Spartan companies are pretty pathetic. Not enough integration within Halo 5. Just start a new system, call them “Clans” and intergrate them properly this time within Infinite.

Idk why they called them spartan companies to begin with. Clans are much more accurate to what the community has. They should also be treated the same way MMO guilds are. With all sorts of perks and challenges as well as bonuses for completing things as a team.

I like the name “Spartan Company” I think it has a better ring to it than “Clan”.

That being said, I’m interested to see what updates they’ll bring to Companies in Infinite (if they add them). I’d definitely say that some extra challenges/bonuses will come from it as Halo 5 was the first iteration of the Companies and therefore can only be improved upon from that. I’m sure that 343 took on board a lot of our enjoyment and criticism from the Companies. So hopefully they make something spectacular for Infinite!

I know I have already joined my fellow Whiskey players in preparation to once again be the worlds first to unlock everything the game has to offer us!

Clans are the original term back in Halo 2, they were officially supported. They were still called clans all the way up to spartan company release, and a good amount of the customs community still calls them clans. Spartan company was a weird way of 343i making it their own thing.

I disagree, Halo Infinite is pandering to nostalgia, cutting ties with Halo 5’s systems is the smart thing to do. Reverting back to “Clans” and adding actual benefits to them which the widely forgotten “Spartan Company” was known for not exactly doing, seems the best route. Plus, Clan battles has a catchier ring to it than spartan company battles. This is all just my opinion of course so yeah. Who knows what 343 will do. As long as the actual system at hand is a strong and rewarding one, it won’t matter.

I was never around for Halo 2. I started with H4 as my first online experience. So I’ve technically only ever been around for Spartan Companies really.

I can respect both of your reasons for wanting it to be called clans again, as that’s what you’ve grown up and been accustomed to. When I think of the word “clan” in Halo I refer it back to a custom games role playing lobby. Which is probably incorrect.

At the end of the day, the name doesn’t bother me, I’m happy to have it be called anything as long as everyone’s having a good time and it has positive benefits for everyone.

I do like the name Spartan Company still, but again is my opinion and just what I’m accustomed to. I respect your opinions on it and if it is changed back to clans then I won’t complain either.

This is my sentiment as well. I really enjoyed them in Halo 5 and having them return with even more attributes would be sweet.

Absolutely, there definitely should be a seamless tie in to the multiplayer client itself for sure.

we should at least have our waypoint spartan companies integrated so we can see whos online and not, but I would like something better than halo 5’s integration, like maybe a spartan company tournament between them

yes but someone shouldnt have to use waypoint to join it should be fully integrated int to the game

probably yeah

I fully support the return of Spartan Companies, although I feel they should be incorporated into the game better, like being able to scroll companies through the game itself rather than coming here to check out what’s new in your company.
