Hey all,
Is the colour black back in or is it some greyed out steel variant again? I like to play with my yellow primary and black secondary colour scheme (bumblebee!) but it’s not all that good in Reach - the supposed black areas of armour look more like they’re unpainted rather than black.
The vids from eurogamer and pax aren’t much help to be honest, the poor quality cams do the game no justice at all. Any feedback from people who’ve used the armory firsthand would be appreciated.
Can’t find the thread but some dude who had played Halo 4 said that his spartans armor was BLACK.
In Halo 4, it looks to be a dark gray mixed with areas of deep black. unlike Reach’s “blue-ish steel” colour.
I think it looks great, but I agree that it could be much darker.
However, the PAX build was months old, from what 343i was saying, and they also stated the colours were NOT the final pallet, as someone in the Q&A audience referred to them as “too pastel” looking.
I agree, because the blue & red colours especially look light and “plasticy” to me. I hope they’re more vibrant. It would help to make players stand out more and not blend in with the maps like they did in Halo: Reach.
Yeah, last night someone was answering questions since he played Halo 4 at the EB games expo. He said his armor was black and I asked if it was the original pitch black or the recent steel colour. He replied with:

So hopefully it wasn’t just an old build with black still in, I want to use black until I get sick of it.
I always thought it was black too. In the armour vids and recent gameplay it looked really dark to me.
However, when I played at Eurogamer, it turned out to be steel. The same shade as in Reach. I guess lighting and your monitor will make a difference, but that is what I saw

No those people said STEEL, they all said steel. It’s not black.
that would be sweet if we could choose black as a color. pitch black, yeah.
