I don’t know how much this has been discussed, so if it has, feel free to link me there. One thought I’ve been having is about Spartan chatter and the announcer voice in Halo 5. I personally thought it was fun to hear the spartans calling out headshots, warnings and compliments to each other and I understand that not everyone enjoys hearing it (hooray for on/off switches). I think 343 hasn’t taken the idea far enough. Part of Spartan customization should be customizing the spartan’s voice and “personality” in matchmaking and make these unlock able achievements.
For example (and some of these can come in male or female voices, others are gender specific):
Spartan IV (regular): what we heard in the beta.
Spartan IV (cocky): acts like an all around jerk to all other spartans (including own team)
Spartan III voices: Carter, Cat, Emile, Jorge, Jun… if they didn’t speak much in the game, they aren’t as chatty in matchmaking.
ODST: divided into the individual members, as well as a possible generic ODST voice. Example:
Buck (among firefight quotes):
- “Time to grow a pair!” (if enemy escapes using sprint)- “I appreciate the concern.” (if ally assists)- “Huh, some things never change.” (if you kill the same enemy 2x in a row)Marine: This one would be for kicks and giggles. Sounds just like the marines (with opportunity to change accent from American, to Australian to anywhere…) from in game, Also possible Red vs Blue voices.
- “Hey you stole my kill!” (when you only get an assist and you were first to shoot)- “I hope you brought some butter, cuz you’re about to get fried!” (spartan picks up Hydra, or SPANKr)- “Watch it amigo!” (Friendly Fire)- “Crikey, what are you, school girls, girl scouts?” (When scoring x kills in a row)Captain Keyes, Miranda Keyes, Sergeant Johnson, Echo 4-19 (Foehammer from Halo: CE)
John-117 (displays sociopathic antisocial behavior and doesn’t usually speak at all).
Other possible voices to use: other Spartan IIs (if they make an appearance in game), Halo Wars characters (Ellen Anders, Captain Cutter) Serina, Auntie Dot, Roland and Cortana (as possible announcer voices, changeable in host settings)
