Think it depends on which medal you got for the kill. There is a melee kill medal and a Spartan charge medal.

I’ll have to see when playing super fiesta

I don’t think Spartan Charges with an Energy Sword count towards the commendation as the game tracks it as a Sword Kill. It may count if you have a Gravity Hammer, though.

I would love an instruction book for this game.

No. It’s considered a Energy Sword kill if you charge with the sword because the kill feed also says you killed someone with a sword while charging.
