Earlier I was thinking about how when a car accident occurs and both cars receive damage after the collision. What does Spartan Charge have to do with this? What this led me to was, if a Spartan hits another Spartan like that, shouldn’t both receive damage? Which brings me to what this post is about. If 343 does not remove Spartan Charge in Halo 5 or future games, I believe that it should be modified so the Spartan who does the charge has their shielding knocked out upon contact as an additional balancing mechanic. While it may not be as effective as removing Spartan Charge altogether, I think it would add to the skill of getting kills with it. A Charge straight to an enemy’s back would still be an instant kill, but it would leave you open to being shot in the head by another nearby enemy. If the blow is dealt to the front, it would give the Spartan who is on the receiving end a better chance of winning. Thoughts?
I’d rather they just straight remove it but this makes sense. My idea would be put the thruster on cooldown when you use it and then slightly increase the time it takes before you can fire after using it. That way after using it you have far less mobility options to back out so if you don’t get the kill you’ve put yourself in a position to be more easily countered.
Remove magnetism and it’d be good. SC was making me bitter last night.
Or people can learn to strafe or side thrust.
It’s not hard to avoid the Spartan charge.
Ere is no need to tweak/change spartan charge in that manner. Its already possible to lower someone’s shield while they are sprinting at you and during the charge itself. The person preforming the charge already runs the risk of not being able to shoot while they sprint. And once they preform the charge they have a few seconds of animation delay. As long as the enemy is in your sights, you have an equally fair chance to even the odds or even beat the odds by simply shooting at them and then using melee at the same time as their charge.
It need to behave more like splatter damage.
Ive had many of times I’m moving away faster than they are charging but the damage is the same. Other instances where they aren’t even close enough to touch me or kill with a shot gun but they land the hit.
It also doesn’t make sense that you can change your momentum sharply and charge a different direction. I’ve many a time did a 180 while charge and not lost any speed.

A 180 while charging?? I bet you hit nothing but air.

it’s a hit n’ a miss
If the enemy is coming at me it will hit 100% of the time and they aren’t expecting it
obvously it doesn’t have to be an exact number you can effectively just spin around on the spot and Spartan charge once the momentum is gained you can flip it any which way.

I realize that. It’s just that doing something like this makes sense to me for some reason. I honestly don’t hate Spartan Charge. I just thought this might work to reduce the ‘noobiness’ of getting kills with it.
I just want to let everyone know that I don’t hate Spartan Charge and I really don’t think it needs this change. It was just that I kept thinking about how real-world physics would apply, as Halo is intended to be a fairly realistic yet still futuristic game.

The massive amounts of aim assist/magnetism on the SC coupled with most battles in tight cluttered corridors/ areas makes avoiding SC a lot more difficult than this implies

I would rather not have it than it be in the game.
