I know Spartan charge can be a little irritating when we get killed by it but maybe there’s a select few who haven’t but we’ve all used it, and I myself find it useful if I run around a corner and there’s a guy there, it gives me one last chance to get a kill. But if you really think about it, it does the same damage as meleeing people, if you do it head on it only pops their shields so it’s basically a charge and a shot which is the same as one meleeing and a shot. And beat downs are one hit kills too which are from behind and the only time a Spartan charge is a one hit kill is if it’s from behind but it’s basically then the same as a beat down or assassination. The only other time it could be one hit kill is if the shields are already down, but a meleeing would kill them in one hit with no shields too. I actually like the abilities but I think that the idea that many have of creating a classic playlist with nine of them is great and will cater to both players, ones who like them and others who don’t. I think the problem with the 343 matchmaking is that they try to make it fit into canon and the story, that’s why there isn’t any elites in matchmaking or classic playlists with no abilities but they need to have both of those. And I have been with halo since the beginning so I would play both without abilities when I feel a bit more nestalgic
Melee kills just feel cheap to those “skill” based range players. I have a “friend” who hates it , but has always hated the dbl melee mechanic. (I really do have a friend who feels this way , just so happens I do too. I am not a “skilled” range player however).
I think most dislike it once you combine it with the super short radar of this game. Between the speed and the radar it makes it nearly impossible to counter , unless you happen to be looking in the direction of the charger. If it was used more as “I didn’t expect an enemy around this corner” it wouldn’t be a problem. It might actually be a useful anti-camping tool. As it is , to many rely on the fact that you can’t see them coming and react fast enough to avoid being killed most of the time.
People think it’s OP ? Wow they’ll complain about anything lol.
People had a big problem with it at first I think they have come to realize that as the OP said it not as Overpowered as they once thought. they just had to adapt and change to a new mechanic.
I still haven’t gotten use to being hit with a charge and simultaneously striking the opposing player with melee. I’m not gunna claim this as fact, but usually if you melee a charging player, your recovery is quicker and you can land the final shot faster than the recovery of the player exiting the charge animation.

I use to rage thinking there was no other way around being charged until I figured out the above mentioned solution to the somewhat overused tool. What I am not a big fan of is speed boost spartan charges, that too me is a cheap way of getting kills.
Its effective range and the width with which you can land a hit with it probably need toned down a bit. The mechanic itself is fine, but you should have to be a little more precise with it and be penalized for misfiring.
I don’t see why people make such a huge deal about it.
The only time it really annoys me is when someone just spams it all the time in 4v4. Any other game type I don’t really care for it. It is useful.
I’ll use it because it’s there - but I don’t like it and I don’t like what it does for the game.
People used to be really irritated during Halo 2’s long distance melee days - If you didn’t play halo 2, the Melee distance was larger than it was during halo 1, it turned into a panic/reflex ability instead of using it tactic fully (Is that a word?) Halo 3 made the distance shorter and better in my opinion.
Ground pound is fine I think - but Charge needs to go
It’s annoying and frustrating to deal with, its not necessarily op
It’s the most lame mechanic since armor lock. I loathe Spartan charge. All it does is reward players for being late on the trigger while sprinting. Also it is OP mainly due to it doing the same amount of damage no matter how much they hit you. They can barley graze you and it still does full damage. Also with the small motion tracker it’s nearly impossible to avoid unless you see them coming right in front of you.
Since a SC from behind is an instant kill, why not make it so if you use this and hit a Spartan from behind, it goes into an assassination animation instead…say you tackle him and it takes a second or two to kill them. At least this way it would give someone the chance of saving your life…
I’m not a huge fan of SC but I don’t 100% hate it either. I would try tweeking things first before scraping it. It really needs to “track” less, and take longer to activate . As of now, you take 3 steps and you can do it which is dumb I feel.
I hate Ground Pound just as much if not more actually. Just take away the AOE on ground pound and it’s fine. It should be you have to actually hit them to kill them. The amount of times I’ve been kill from some ground pounding and they are no where near me is unreal! That pisses me off more then getting SC.
Side note, why can’t we assassinate someone getting assassinated?? I really hate you can’t.

Armor Lock is about 78 times worse than Spartan Charge and I dislike Spartan Charge.
I can’t really say SC is OP but it’s definitely annoying to me. I do change my strats quite a bit if I know the opposition is whipped for that ability. Overgrowth seems to be SC ville so I try to keep plasma as a primary nade to I can stick them on the charge (Worst case scenario it’s a trade). Sometimes I can boost strafe while I stick them for the ultimate combo. Promith nades can be effective too but sometimes they charge right through it before it officially activates.
