Spartan Charge is old and a little too powerful.

I’m not even mad and I just tried to give you helpful tips that require Gasp effort. Here you again though with the “Its not fair” excuse again. I mean what do you want? Another update…we just had a weapons tuning update like what? 3 weeks ago? Was that not good enough? I’ve already adapted to it. Also after complaining you don’t get to lecture on how the world works kiddo. Especially after you ignore constructive advice.

Oh, by the way. Life’s not fair but it is what you make of it.

No wanted wanted the nerfs to weapons, (besides maybe the AR) but we did want spartan charge nerfed though.

You couldn’t be more wrong about that statement. There a thread for at least every weapon on this game. Seriously, you guys complain more than women on their periods.

  • “I don’t like this or that” - You gave us the update we wanted but i’m still trash, blah blah blah. And then half of you guys don’t even know what you want the game to be. Be like, "We want to be like old Halo but we don’t wan to be like old Halo, but we can’t be like Call of Duty, or Destiny, or Overwatch.

Like just leave 343i and Halo 5 alone. They are doing fine. Spartan charge isn’t even a big deal I can count on my hands how many times I’ve been killed by it and that from 2 years of playing.

All the new spartan abilities are useless because the lock ons are too strong In H5

Perhaps the only exception would be Ground Pound. If that thing’s massive crosshair had the ability to turn red, that would make it REALLY SCARY.

Have you ever considered the fact that this is a section of a section of a community that does not share one opinion or voice? Different people want different things. Just like how you want your own thing and not everyone agrees with you.

You’re basically saying that Halo 5 is perfect and there is nothing to complain about.

Other people have been playing for 2 years as well, and at times they tend to have a much better grasp on the game than you do.

Notice how you didn’t answer anything about Spartan Charge, and just repeated your earlier statement.

> 2533274935387489;44:
> Here, I’m going to offer you constructive advice all else aside.

This whole statement, and everything else you said, goes under the assumption that everyone complains about it because they suck. Not only is that a baseless generalization, but is almost a strawman in itself. Even pros at the game and some people in Champions rank have something to complain about. Does that mean they actually suck?

I can tell because you said things like this:

> 2533274935387489;44:
> - Sprint sucks - Spartan Charge is to strong - Hit detection is broken - Aim settings are broken - My controller is brokenThe list of excuses could go on.

In order:

Sprint has little to do with how good you actually are. It’s not faster paced, it literally limits you as a player. I could go on, but there’s a whole thread about Sprint.

Spartan Charge, also comments but you apparently ignored them.

Hit detection, proven by 343i because they changed the aim assist on some weapons to make up for it.

Aim settings, literally proven there was a mechanical problem through testing and 343i confirmed it and released patches to fix it. So it’s not an excuse, it’s a legitimate flaw with the game.

“My controller is broken” - I don’t think I need to explain that one.

You can be entirely great at a mechanic, and not like that mechanic.

I can be super great in using a Sniper Rifle that has an aimbot on it, doesn’t mean I can’t complain about the aimbot. It’s not hard to use Armor Lock because it was OP as all Yoink!, but people complained about it.

I don’t need to ask “What am I doing wrong” because I’m not losing a bunch of games in the first place.

Disregard the whole “you just suck at the game” mentality you cling on to, and realize that maybe people don’t like the mechanic because it’s a bad mechanic.

It has nothing to do with “adapting.” A bad change is a bad change, whether you adapt to it or not.

You don’t get my point. I never said Halo 5 was perfect because its not but you gotta learn how to play around it. You guys are basically competing in say a football game and complaining that the game is unfair because the grass isn’t cut right, there is too much sun glare, the ball was deflated etc. So yea my answer to spartan charge is to learn how to use it and play against because life isn’t fair. Go be a snowflake elsewhere not in a competitive game. Seriously, you argue more than woman mate.

Absolutely not what we’re doing.

It’s more akin to playing football, and complaining about the game because a rule was changed in no one’s favor.

So what does the NFL do? They get together, and then decide on a change, or provide more direct reasoning for why this rule is set. Because rules change all the time.

Halo 4 changed things when coming to Halo 5. Why? Because enough people complained about it.

Which is why the NFL sucks now. Because everyone complains instead of playing.

You’re the one who made the comparison. The same thing happens for almost every other sport in the world

And almost any game with a sequel.

Rules can change. Anything can change and people can adapt to it. Adapting to it doesn’t make it good. A bad change is a bad change.

I easily adapted to Loadouts and was even better abusing them. I still hated loadouts and advocated for its removal. And now look, we don’t have loadouts anymore.

The answer is truly a lot of testing in the real world with rel players. Its not that loadouts or “X” is bad. It just needs to be re-balanced. I believe loadouts made Halo a lot more fun because of versatility. But that come with the challenge of keeping all weapons balanced.

Spartan change has it’s faults, I agree but I think it can be salvaged… Or 343I/MS could just be smart and go back to no sprint animation Halo for future games. Overwatch has proved that sprint isn’t needed for an FPS to be popular (not that Halo wasn’t popular before, because it was) so go back to that style… and then we wouldn’t have to worry about Spartan charge at all
>
> Unfortunately I’m living in the province that snows the most in winter which is Quebec, in the greater Montreal Area, How about you eh? Where do you live in the great white north?!
> Good Reference for Over Watch, your right that the fun factor is in that game without having sprint, just like DOOM (Newest one). I just wish 343i would find a balance between the classic Mark 2’s and Spartan 4’s abilities

Bonjour mon ami! (I’m pretty limited writing french, I’m better speaking it but still not great…but I try lol) Nothing wrong with snow!! Just not fun driving in it  …just remember to wear your toque eh lolol! I’m in Ontario, GTA for me

Ya Overwatch is fun and the new Doom game flows Amazingly!! I love the single player of it, SO GOOD!! and MP isn’t too bad but it definitely needs some polish. I agree 100% there. Well, some people would say 343I have, but a lot of others would disagree big time.

Personally, I think the happy medium lies with equipment. I’d have a new Halo game have Halo 1-3 style gameplay with Clamber and interactive environments like H2A had. As I mentioned earlier, I would also bring back, map pick ups, 1 time uses of equipment. Yes some people didn’t like equipment but Halo 3 proved that people would still play the game even if they weren’t big on it. Equipment would replace Spartan abilities. Any Spartan abilities could easily be turned into equipment. Things like thrusters, jetpacks, double jump etc. Heck, even something like Armour lock might not even be that bad as equipment if it was a one time use… The point is, the possibilities of equipment are nearly endless!!! The best part is, if pro’s don’t like equipment, then that’s ok. They can easily remove them from the maps. Win win for everyone I feel.

I’d also make it so when someone has equipment picked up, there character actual “puts it on” or “equips it” so other players could see that… if you know what I’m trying to get at. That’s what I’d do, but that’s me

Like most aspects of Halo 5, there are some good ideas with the SA’s, including Spartan Charge. But the implementation and balance is way off. As you said, no risk/reward, only reward and a mandatory skill to use while traversing the map. It should have very little range, do damage to 50% of your shields, 100% damage to enemy shields + extra health damage if they go flying into an obstacle (think Doom Fist from Overwatch). That would be an idea to playtest but honestly if you’re banking on any changes to the current Halo 5, good luck. We will see when I rent Halo 6

And you act like players haven’t tested this by playing the game?

How do you think heavy aim was found out? By testing.
It’s been shown that Loadouts don’t work for Halo, and people didn’t like it. You can tell people to adapt, but that won’t make it not a bad mechanic. So 343i removed it.

You can say that people are whiners and make all the -Yoink!- statements you want. The only reason Halo 5 has what it does right now is because of people “complaining.” Skill has nothing to do with it.

I would love to have it removed, but I’d accept a heavy nerf.
Its not fun to fight against, or dish out from my point of view.

a nerf that would make it extremely opportunistic would make me happy because I think we’d all rather rely on our skill in aiming and who first can whittle shields down if we come across an “around the corner” sprint.

They didn’t remove load outs completely. It is still a part of Warzone and works just fine. However, there is a difference between whining and constructive criticism. Those who did the latter changed nothing. Those who participated and provided feedback helped. This conversation is over, I don’t have time to deal with this. Have a good day.

Loadouts were removed from the core game mode, and doesn’t function nearly the same way in Warzone. You can’t choose a DMR whenever you want, you have to achieve a certain score to unlock the ability to use higher weapons. If Loadouts were the way it was used in Halo 4, then everyone would be using DMRs from the beginning.

“However, there is a difference between whining and constructive criticism.”
You mean those who did the former changed nothing.

Then what is this very topic? The first post was nothing but constructive criticism and offering solutions, but you dismissed it as him being a below average player and he just needs to get better, calling it whining.

You say there’s a difference, but you called constructive criticism whining.

I’m a fan of the Spartan Charge ability because I believe it has a meaningful relation and use in being tied to the Sprint mechanic; however, it could use some modifications in order to appropriately lessen its overall effectiveness. The tweaking concepts I’d personally like to see tried out or given consideration to by 343i with regards to lessening its effectiveness would be these:

  • Tweak the damage output via a range to damage ratio that focuses on when contact is made within the ability’s strike or contact range. This would make the ability’s contact damage variable by having it go from a max amount at its initial engagement to a lower amount at its’ furthest range; it should tailor down from around it’s current damage to the amount of a regular melee strike. - Link the Spartan Charge (and Ground Pound + Thrust Evade) to some level or amount of impact damage given an impactful contact is made in their use; therefore, causing some damage to the charger. Similar amounts for Spartan Charge and Ground Pound while less for the Thruster Evade (in the event when its used and a player is thrust into a fixed object). - Lessen its range and aim assist a bit. Perhaps reduce its range by approximately a meter or 2 and make it a bit more skillful to use by reducing the magnetism related to the aim assist. The Beta’s visual indicator for being able to Spartan Charge was smaller and seemed to suggest that it once was designed with less aim assist; perhaps, 343i should try going back to that previous setting or trying out something in-between. - Give consideration to linking any use of the Thruster Pack via the Thrust Evade, Spartan Charge, and Ground Pound to enact a minor cool-down (~4 sec ?) before being able to make use of it again regardless to the specific ability. Not sure this would be necessary, but it is an option to try out with the goal being to lessen its overall effectiveness; plus, the Thrust Evade already incorporates a 4 second cool-down to prevent immediate repeating uses, so this would simply be an expansion on that concept to include the Spartan Charge and Ground Pound mechanics into that same 4 second cool-down. - Make the Abilities Tracker that’s used for the HCS a standard Tracker for all Arena (aka Ranked) playlists that include a tracker. Obviously, a mode like SWAT which operates with no radar would be an exception. Not all of these ideas may be necessary or taken to the extent that I mention in order to create a more ideal Spartan Charge, but I think it’s obvious that some effectiveness reduction is in order.
