Spartan Charge Balancing Idea?

Ok i’ll skip the intro, we all know spartan charge is bad, and should be tweaked. Here’s my Idea.

In order to charge, it sacrifices the shields to use it. Activation takes half of the shield away, but any impact will drop shileds to 0. The charge assassination one hit kill can still be in effect, but that shield drop can kick in.

anyone else have an idea of what to do (that doesn’t involve removing Spartan charge?)

I don’t see that would work. I say we take out spartan charge instead. it already done enough damage to Halo already.

well it gives the chargee a chance to fight back, because every time youre hit head on with a spartan charge, the charger will typically have shields. Making it a fair fight allows less panic, less rage, and this could get people to charge less. My idea only changes the Risk/Reward pool so it’s a fair ability compared to what we have now.

Yeah but would it just make charge just nerfed to much. I mean if person a has fast reflexed and your charge takes out your shields he will have time to kill quickly.

that’s the point. It would take skill to truly use it, it wouldnt be something you just throw out when you want anymore. Besides given it’s already destructive and annoying power, it deserves a nerf like this

A nerf like this might work but I don’t know. They might just charge people in the back instead of front. And the main reason why people hate it is mainly the motion tracker sucks.

I’m sorry but it’s balanced enough. If you can’t shot at the chargee while their charging at you jump then melee, I’m sorry but it’s basic stuff… . If your good then it’s beyond easy to avoid. It’s only a one hit kill from the back just like a normal melee. If your getting one hit killed from the back that’s on you and your lack of situational awareness.

You mean the panic button?

Sparan charge from behind, I approve.
Using it everytime you get suppressed…no!

Losing some shields to activate it, would be great.
I like this, would thin the useage.

Or you could, counter a charge if you see it coming.
Like reticule on, and meele to cancel enemy’s charge.

I can spray than punch to kill a charger but I’m still one shot after…so…

The best way to balance it is to remove it from the game completely. There are no tweaks that could improve it. Complete removal is the only solution.

Spartan Charge should require you to build up power like the Ground Pound. This would make it less spamable which I think is the reason for it being frustrating at times. Less auto-aim would help too.

How about if you see the charge coming and hit them with a melee it kills them, or at least stuns them instead of you.

All Spartan Charge is a glorified Sprint Melee that pushes another player backwards and makes it so the other player can’t shoot. Honestly I think that you should have a delay between sprinting and being able to melee, so you have to stop sprinting to be able to melee.

I understand why people would want this feature gone, but making SC take away half of your own shields and only remove an enemy’s shields (as opposed to default damage in also removing half health)? No one would remotely consider using it as opposed to a regular melee. You do realize how much easier the enemy would kill a charger as they simply need to time their melee and nothing else to finish him off.

First off, we need to address its ridiculous melee assist. Minimize the aim assist so that players have to actually aim to receive the benefits of Spartan charge. Give it a little faster boost for further reach, but make it count as a thrust use so that players can’t thrust and Spartan charge at the same time.

Lastly, make the SC require a charge in order to activate. When players reach terminal velocity, they must hold the melee button until a meter fully charges, and then they’ll only have 3 or so seconds to let go before the player automatically uses the Spartan charge (think of the railgun for reference). On top of this, the Spartan should appear from third person to have a more aggressive sprint as if he was about to tackle someone. That way, enemies can directly anticipate this maneuver and plan accordingly.

Now people won’t be cheaply punished for using a SC as opposed to your suggestion, but its skill requirement and predictability will allow for less frustrating deaths.

Spartan Charge is awesome. You can literally melee them as they hit you. If you see them coming, its pretty much a one sided fight in your favor, if you don’t, well that’s kind of your fault isn’t it? How else are you supposed to melee from a sprint? Do you guys really want people to have to drop out of a full run just to throw a punch, because honestly, that’s a bit crazy.

This. I like this. Another!

Though I’m not sure what you’re trying to say here:

What I mean is that when a player is charging their spartan charge, their sprint animation should appear distinct from when people regularly sprint, maybe along the lines of wilder arm swinging, etc. I’m sure 343 can figure something out.

Eh, in that case, I agree with everything you said except for that. A different sprinting animation is a bit on-the-nose; you’re already nerfing Spartan Charge, but then warning people that you’re going to use it feels unfair. I think a smart player would know an opponent is about to charge if they keep sprinting directly at them, and that they should usually keep their distance in fights.

It’s definitely something that doesn’t need to be in the game with how powerful thrust is, so I may take back my idea of that.

Or they could just decrease the ridiculous magnetism.
