Spartan blue team.Campaign evolved.

Halo 5 is a great place to bring in Fred, Linda, Kelly from the Halo books. They are fellow Spartan II’s Just like chief and where his Teammates for over 30 years. With Cortana gone this is a great time to bring them in to a game. Would you like to see them ?

Any fan of the extended lore would love to see them. But unfortunately the majority of people don’t know about them, and introducing them into the games would basically be like bringing in “new” characters.

Of course it can be done.

I’d be more interested in Gray Team.

Gray would be nice but I think I would like Blue better.

Will it be as good as their intro in Halo 4 like many hoped it would be?

They could at least be players 2, 3 & 4 in campaign co-op. that would be really great

They could be, but given 343i’s trackrecord of introducing and then never elaborating on elements from the books to the games, it won’t be easy. And that hinges on whether or not Blue Team gets killed off in the next book or not.

Blue team will just feel like a less cursed Noble Team. That said, having some other Spartan allies isn’t bad.

If they kill them off in a book before they have a chance to be in a game(s), I will hate 343 forever.

Been waiting since Halo 2 for this.

I’m going to have to say that I’d be surprised if Blue Team is even mentioned in Mortal Dictata, the book would likely focus more on condemning Halsey as usual. However, this time it’s hating on Halsey for cloning her brain instead of kidnapping children! Hooray!

OT: If Blue Team were to appear in Halo 5, I’d think it’d be pretty innovative to have each member be playable within the campaign.

Halo 5 should introduce a dynamic squad mechanic that allows the player to cycle between members of Blue Team throughout the mission. Each member will be different in terms of their abilities. For example, Kelly will have a slight speed increase and unlimited sprint, while Linda would have a significant increase in accuracy and slightly less flinch/descope.

Also, 4 player co-op would use Blue Team instead of the traditional 4 Master Chiefs.

Blue is perfect considering what is going on. And 343i can make people who are unaware of them, aware of them with a few cutscenes etc etc.

Bring it!

I’d love for blue team to be there, finally see the lovely Linda :stuck_out_tongue:

If they introduced blue team then they’d better have my Spartan III’s in there…

That strategy didn’t work with the Didact, why would it work with Blue Team?

Blue team would be easier to understand for some, Spartans Vs Some forerunner clone… split personality war chief guy… ya know I still don’t fully understand didact, it was difficult for me to get emerged with that book

Hopefully with more informative cutscenes.

Would be spiffy. I really like those characters from the books. Just need a little dialogue when they are introduced for game only players to not feel too in the dark.

Chief: I thought you guys…
Kelly: John, did you not figure out back on Reach that we’re harder to kill than that?

You just established they know each other and have a history. You also made it feel like you aren’t just ignoring the whole “last spartan 2” thing that was pretty well left in tact within the games.

Now that would kind of work against isolating John to examine what losing Cortana does to his character, but at the same time they all have a connection with Halsey if he is looking to find her while grasping at straws to bring back cortana. Additionally, having familiar characters that haven’t seen him in a while would give you a chance to have characters comment on how much he’s changed or ask him if he’s alright… a little less subtle way to convey character developments than pensive visor views.

Condensing years of development and backstory in a cutscene would be nigh impossible to do in a manner that completely fills newcomers in while satisfying those who are in the know.

Didact’s motivations could have been handled pretty easily. “It is you humans that brought the flood to us! It is you who defied the natural order, you who took everything from us!”

It is where you introduce the composer, prometheans, and librarian that you start getting pretty dense sci-fi backstory and character interactions. If you just make the prometheans combat ai and the composer basically a one directional “halo gun” you simplify the fiction significantly.

Not saying that makes the story better, but it does make it much easier to present and follow for the casual game player.

As far as the storm covenant goes…

Chief: Cortana, why are they att-
Cortana: Com traffic indicates its a splinter faction… These fools still want to activate the Halos!

or something along those lines. You don’t even have to do all of it in cut scenes. Cortana dialogue during transitional segments of game play can tell you a lot. Think back to the first time you get a warthog in Halo CE and Cortana is explaining the military situation while you drive through the tunnels.

I do find it odd how downplayed the Flood really was in Halo 4. The Librarian mentions it in the little cutscene during Reclaimer(?), but barely.
