Halo: Spartan Assault was recently released for Xbox 360. While many of you are enjoying the game, we are aware that some players are experiencing issues. Please answer the following if you are experiencing game crashes or freezes:
•What mission were you playing?
There is no pattern to it, it can be any mission in my experience.
•What happened right before it crashed?
Occasionally right before a mission ends or just before a battle/enemy wave and also in the menus basically when something was loading.
•Did it freeze or return you to the dashboard?
Freezes every single time, have to restart the console.
•Has it happened again since your initial report?
Yes.
•Are you currently unable to complete a mission because of this?
No. If it happens just before the mission ends but before the end screen it sometimes lets you complete it but sometimes not and you have to replay the mission again.
I have also deleted cache but that didn’t work. Nor did deleting and reinstalling.

My son too, on a different console in his bedroom. It doesn’t do it at the same sections either but the constant does seem to be when something loads.
This is the series of events that I can best recall. I was not expecting to have to remember my actions, so some of this might not be exact.
Played Tutorial, Played Tutorial again for quicker time, Played A-1, A-1 froze after totaling score, Reset, Played A-2, Froze trying to select A-3 in mission select, Reset, Looked in Assult Ops at main menu, Hit LB to Achievements and froze, Reset, Played A-3, Played A-4, Froze during totalling of score, Reset, Played A-5, Froze again while totalling score, Reset
Reset= Turing the Xbox 360 off by pressing the hard power button. I would wait a few minutes to turn it back on after all lights had gone out.
All Video froze
The sound Continued
Guide button did not work (no guide sound)
I waited a considerable period of time before reseting.
I have not replayed any levels.
I am still able to continue the game. Other than being annoying there is no restriction. Feels not worth it to play knowing that it will most likely inevitablly freeze.
I was able to complete A-1 through A-3 when I go into A-4 it freezes. I just unlocked escort service. looking for help with freezing thank you.

For me, it never even gets to the mission. The pre-game credits work fine, as does the “Select Storage Device.” After selecting my HDD, the “Connecting” screen appears. Three dots show, the music glitches out, then returns. However, though music is playing the game is completely frozen and the Center Button is completely unresponsive, even for a hard-press console shutdown.

No initial report was filed, however I have attempted to restart the console and game twice. On the second freeze-up, I removed the game from my HDD and re-downloaded it, yet the freeze happens at the exact same moment each time.
What mission were you playing?
Just after finishing the download, i tried to launch the first mission and it froze 1 second after the mission start, even before i had time to move.
What happened right before it crashed?
Everything seemed normal.
Did it freeze or return you to the dashboard?
It froze. I had to turn my Xbox off.
Has it happened again since your initial report?
Yes.
I actually managed to finish the first mission and then it froze for the second time while i was selecting skulls for the second mission.
Are you currently unable to complete a mission because of this?
I finished the first mission, but i will play Halo 4 until the game gets fixed.
For me it freezes on the select hardrive/cloud screen, so pretty much immediately.
The menu music seems to go off immediately before it freezes/
It freezes and I have to turn my xbox off.
I have tried 3 times now and it always freezes at this stage.
It seems to happen on any mission ( I have gotten it on every single mission in A and B), but it does seem to happen the most in one of the following scenarios:
1: When the level is about to start.
2: When it is telling me the points at the end of the level (which still seems to give me credit for the level being completed)
3: When an achievement is unlocked, and I go to pop it (pressing the xbox button) it has done it 1/2 of the time.
4: When I fail a mission and am asked to retry it (I was going for the challenge of melee kills on the suicide grunts in chapter B.) Would get three kills and die, repeat. AFter every third or 4th game, it would freeze.
Every time it freezes. There is no control at all on m end, so I cannot go to dashboard. I have to restart my xbox.
I am able to complete missions, but it is an extreme annoyance that this is happening. Also, I fear I am playing with fire because most of the time it is happening is when the game is being saved after a mission is completed and it says in bold letters to not restart my xbox at that time.
I also had another issue. It came back with an error saying my save data was corrupt, and I needed to save again to do this. I would do it, and the error would come up again. After a 3rd attempt at saving, it takes it and the message goes away. This has happened twice now.
Ah for me it usually freezes when it goes to the choose game storage device menu. When I first downloaded it I got to play missions A 1-4 but on the 2nd mission it froze when the mission complete should appear.
It freezes for me in missions and in menus, it has frozen as i have started co-op games and now freezes on me EVERYTIME as i try and load the game, as soon as the ‘select storage device’ screen comes up where i choose my hard drive it freezes there, guide button does not work, music plays, only fix is to reset xbox. As i’m typing this its been on that screen for around 15 - 20 minutes and just sent me back to the dashboard now. Non of my other games are freezing at start up just this.
Nothing now, it crashes if i let it load itself or press a to skip the intro screens, it freezes as soon as i press ‘A’ or ‘Start’ when prompted to so i can start the game.
Returns to dash after 20 minutes of nothingness and whole console-lockup. Other than that the immediate option is a console reset.

If this was a retail release it would have been returned to the store by now, as its digital and im unable to do that im very disappointed in how broken this game is on release after coughing up £12 or whatever it was for a broken game. Please fix ASAP

It just froze midlevel on me for the first time. No sound or anything. Restarted the xbox, went back into the game, and this time it froze at the start screen before I could even select my hard drive.
I went back and redownloaded the game. Something I noticed: the progress bar went slow as normal up to 80%, and then when it hit 80% it said finished downloading and I could play the game. I did it again, and the same thing happened. I am not sure this has anything to do with it, but it might if we are not actually being able to fully download the game it could be what is causing the crashing.
Just as a curious measure, has anyone tried booting up the game with the 360 disconnected from Live? Maybe try it with the Ethernet/Wireless disconnected so it can’t attempt to connect to the servers.

I am currently unable to even get to the main menu. I have had tried 3 times now with no luck.
In both cases the sound stopped. 30 Seconds or so pass and the sound came back. In case 2 the sound stopped again after a couple minutes.
Another trend I am seeing is that the game is more likely to freeze when notifications come up (such as Xbox Friend is online or achievements). This is not to say that it does not happen other times too.

It has happened on multiple missions.
•What happened right before it crashed?
The first time it was as the first mission ended. The second time it happened as I moved the character at the start of the second mission. It has also happened in the loading between missions and during missions and just now it happened as the press start menu game up at the start of the game.

Always freezes, can’t do anything other than turn off the console.

No, I find it just happens randomly, but I’m not even half way through the game so I’ll update if needed.
UPDATE: Okay so I have just attempted to play the game and four times in a row it has froze at the start menu as I press start. The music has just started playing after a short while but the screen is frozen. Also when I press the off button on my xbox it stays on my tv? This is stopping me from playing the game at all now.

I was able to play the first 3 missions before the game froze on me. I restarted the xbox and rebooted the game. I get to the part where it has me sign into the game and it freezes before I can even get to the menu.
Literally every single time I hit start on the main menu it freezes. After several minutes it sends me back to the dashboard, but if I don’t want to wait I must unplug my console to reset it. I cannot do anything what-so-ever.
This makes TWO platforms where my purchase of Spartan Assault has been completely unplayable (Win8 has been unplayable for me since launch). This is absolutely ridiculous. Normally I’m pretty patient, but after 6 months of nothing regarding my Win8 version issues, I have to ask: what on Earth is going on in QA over there? How is this acceptable? I could almost excuse the Win8 issues being that my PC is quite old, but given that there was no trial available at the time or any kind of system requirements listed it’s still pretty bad. But this? How on Earth were these crashes not caught? Given the delay they 360 version received, the last minute announcement of the release date, and just barely making it into the January window, it almost seems like these issues were known before releasing. 
The first mission where you drive the Grizzly; It froze when the mission started. It also froze before the mission started where you’re on the bridge going to destroy the Tyrants (after I pressed A to start).
I’m also having an issue where I go to select the save device, and it freezes there. However, it does play the music after about 10-15 seconds; Though I cannot do anything except shut off the Xbox.
It just froze. Had to turn off the Xbox.
Since I’ve posted this, yes, it’s happened every time I go to select a save device.
No. It seemed to just do it once. Once I turned the Xbox back on and loaded up the game again, it lets me play the mission. However, that luckily was when I completed the Campaign and finished the Flood mode. Now, I can’t even play the game because it keeps freezing when I go to select a save device.
