I was thinking of buying Spartan Assault for 360 (when it comes out) and I was just wondering what those that have played it thought of the story?
For me, one of, if not the best, thing about Halo is always the story and I’m curious as to whether this will live up to my expectations
Thanks for the help and please no spoilers
Good story for the type of game it is.

To be honest, the story told in Halo: Spartan Assault is huge and epic. However, the storytelling lets it all down. There are like five main animated “cutscenes” that are just scenes of narrated battle trying to explain what just happened and where we’re heading. There is literally no storytelling in the missions themselves, but there are small text explanations of military movement prior to the mission.
Honestly, though, it’s got all the makings of an epic Halo story. Not trying to spoil anything, but it has got: the Covenant invading a civilian planet, the Spartan-IVs doing one of their first runs to rip the Covenant a new one, the civilian moon ending up being something a little bit more sinister, and Spartans Palmer and Davis having to save a ton of people at a huge cost. And then the DLC adds an even more intriguing plot element that 343 Industries hasn’t yet gotten around to following up on.
So yeah, the story is good - but you won’t really enjoy the way it’s told. I just think it would have made a great book or even first-person shooter. The stage for the battle is a huge planet and its moon, and the tide of battle for and against the Spartans turns a lot.
I disagree… I like the way they did things.
