Spartan Assault Machine Pistol in Halo 5

So I noticed SA had a new gun, the machine pistol (only noticed it from a recent lets play) and that got me wondering if it would be in Halo 5 and if so what role it would play.

In design it seams pretty similar to the SMG so to differentiate it I thought it would have some serious recoil so much so that its practically useless at anything more than close range, have a higher rate of fire than the SMG maybe more than the SAW even and a higher damage potential at close range than the SMG.

My other thought was that it might replace the SMG but I really hope not (unexplainable love for the SMG).

So long as it can’t be chosen in a loadout (oh god please don’t bring back loadouts) and it’s balanced well with other weapons on the field, I’m fine with it being included.

That said, I don’t think it should replace the SMG or be it’s equivalent in stats, it needs its own stats strengths and weaknesses.

Your idea for differentiating it from the SMG is to make it behave almost exactly like the SMG?

Halo already has a human Assault Rifle and a human SMG. How would the Machine Pistol differentiate itself from this faction’s two existing automatic weapons?

What I would do is make the Machine Pistol function almost exactly like the SMG used to, then give the SMG a damage buff, reduce its recoil, and add an integrated scope. Remember ODST?

I don’t really see the point in it, honestly.
