I was thinking allot of people have different opinions on the armor details/effects in Halo 5 so what if in Halo 6 we had a new customization option for the details and effects on the spartan armor where you can pick an option to effect the look of the armor in a small way but keep it the same set and colour.
So people who like the modern Halo4/5 effects can make it look glossy and shiny, the people who like the Reach armor effects can make it look scratched, worn and rugged looking while the people who like the classic effects can make it look simple and waxy looking in that way everyone wins.
So what DOOM does? That would be a good idea actually.

Your black undersuit picture (concept art) is not black, just grey.
This is true black. And this is a Centurion render from the Beta promotional material with True Black undersuit.
I’ve never been too bothered if it’s full black or black with some colours on but I think it should definitely be an option.
The doom characters look like toys and plastic if you not make them totally scratched and dirty. Halo 5s spartans look good as they are. No need to make them shiny or scratched (in my opinion).

They are too shiny and glossy now though, I addition to too vibrant and slightly under armored with a power rangers undersuit.
